The following is an excerpt from an interview by CNET with Sony Network Entertainment COO Shawn Layden:


Following a similar move in Europe (http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57557776-93/sony-begins-testing-online-entertainment-network-store/), Sony plans this month to launch a Web browser version of its PlayStation Store (https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/) so U.S. gamers can remotely browse titles and make purchases. Eventually, the Web store will allow users to buy a game on the browser and have that content automatically downloaded on the PlayStation 3 (http://www.cnet.com/ps3.html).

Go online and buy stuff off xbox Live from the website? Been around for a couple years. The only difference is that xbox just recently got in to the beginnings of offline downloads.....not quite there yet.

I thought they had, but I never use the Xbox.com website so I couldn't remember for sure. Good to know.

Yeah, I use it for preorder and new game bonus items all the time.
