Ah that moment when you forget the custom password for a large Oracle Database get in then import new data and schema then forgetting to set a new password, good thing there is a backdoor admin lol

I use SQL developer for the oracle, and sq scripts for reports. I was a dos and unix guy a little in the army, but mainly consulting on logistical software and then help desk stuff for last 14 yrs. no one else even heard of oracle on my team and I had written some queries and crystal reports years ago for it, so I was elected without a raise to be the data administrator. I helped run the previous school data system that was dbase. Now I spend most days designing HTML, SQL and java customized pages, I can't get them to send me to workshops to learn how, good thing is I set up a test server that downloads a copy of live data everyday. So I can break that. I refuse to study on my own time since I have my kids, possibly football starting, and gaming, always gaming. Sometimes I feel over my head, then look and I am 38, usually unshaven, get 2 hour lunches, and work 8-4 at the most. Oh and my boss caters to my pc needs, I have a 4gb video card on a nice I-5 with so much ram it's ridiculous and 4 22 inch screens. All locked in a private office, they are building me a new suite of offices in a building I will share with 4 other people. I get half the building, eventually I will start teaching workshops like I did at ups. So I can learn some code for a cushion education job that unless I quit, they won't ever fire me from.

nah nah thats ok!! im glad there are a few of us geek guru's here... i know if i have a question i got a good sounding board!!.. ive got a chance to play with Oracle but you wanna talk about a bitch of a system.. a SUN svr with Solaris.. its a Stubborn bitch on a good day... we got 3 in theater..
I was doing the sun servers when I was in too. We used em in warfighter Sims at corp HQ. I was the Army GCCS-E and the MCS-E officer. I ran command and control for V Corps for 4 years. I was doing it before that but when the e-6 and captain left I just did it alone as a corporal. I only was a corporal cause my other hat was qrf and psd squad leader. Talk about too much. Had TS but not everyone did so hard to talk shop when I switched duties depending on needs

And although I spent a lot of time as signal or MP duties. I was only trained as a cav scout.

yeah i was always pointed out in the units as .."hey Bill Gates Jr.".. so i was always picked as the unit IMO as a additional duty.. which lead into as a instructor and a DBA.. plus my flying duties as Maintenance Test Flight Engineer and a AVIM PLT SGT.. all as a E-6.. sheesh

Sun/Oracle is not so bad if your used to them.. well, the newer stuff I would question, and there freaking ILOM. I take care of about 22 servers (mix) and 8 at another location. Couple of IBM blade Centers with 10 HS-22's. Regardless they all have their moments..

I will check it out, thanks.
I am trying to do a search right now. the IB (special think their smart classes) director wants to know how many kids take her programs classes in all the schools, I told her last year to devise a plan to annotate when a kid enrolls in the class so it will be possible, 10 months go by now she wants the results without the annotation. And the superintendent says, she (the teacher)isnt getting smarter so good luck, the super knows its a headache but she said teachers barely understand some of what they teach, technology and software isnt any of that. closed door discussion of course. but had me laughing.
