Anyone out there do some investing in the precious metals market? I've been doing a lot of investing in Silver lately and wondering if anyone out there is following the same path?

Bro, I can't give you any advice there.... I stuck with my IRA as a more conservative approach to investing. I think the most daring investment I made was to buy some Celtics stock some years ago..... it split and then doubled before they bought it all back.
Medals are supposed to be a secure investment but, IN MY OPINION, I think it is like anything else a crap-shoot.

Good Luck
Mike

Well considering the value of the dollar is constantly dropping the value of hard coin is steady. I can find one of those info videos my buddy sent me and post it. Basically if you buy 50 coins a year for 20 years til 2030 something you will have enough to buy a beautiful home... cash. Straight up. I'll find it. It talks about BRIC too.

I don't have the money to invest, but I got saddled with doing the research for my parents. They went mostly gold. It's done nothing but rise in value, so it's a pretty solid investment.

Gold is amazing for those who can afford to drop 2 g's on it. Silver's a safe one for me I usually buy 3-5 coins a month. Only around 30-35 a coin.

Silver is (supposedly) more stable, and in comparison to gold price, is sitting at historically low ratios to gold. Supposedly this means it should rise pretty good, but it hasn't really. :aconfused:

What about titanium? I have enough of that in my leg i could have a solid investment.

Yeah, they dropped a solid investment. We call it my daughter's college fund, since it'll probably go to that if its not invested elsewhere beforehand.

Kinda-sorta. Gold has consistantly risen for the last several years. Gotta remember that both are generally considered finite materials as well.

I have recently been looking at a few places and watching prices and thinking about getting some silver. After I noticed how much gold prices hand changed over the last 20-25 I asked my father where he was hiding his stash.

If you locate that video I would like to see it.

Get silver while you can because it's becoming scarce here in North America in the mines and 90% silver coins are still a little easier to find right now depending on who you order from

Are you getting the sliver, as in having the silver in your own possession or is it stored at some bank to where you'll never see it but say that you do have it?

Good, good. Some places will keep your silver and say you have it. You'll get a certificate saying you own it but now actually have it in hand.

I made a mint on gold but got out years ago, one thing to watch, if you see a lot of commercials telling you to buy gold or other PM from them, watch out: ok the super rich own a lot of gold right now and are looking for someone to take it off their hands at the highend of the price, this also happened when the bubble burst in the 90's with tech and stocks. You don't want to watch the market shows geared to the average person you want to know what the fund managers are doing and super rich, mostly tag a stock or fund and get on the invest list. Remember the super rich don't want you to get rich they want you to buy their stuff when needed.

Always have that in your possession. Otherwise you're just trusting their word, which if the economy were to really tank, well...

Generally, don't they only do that with the bars that are unrealistic to own? I've never seen a certificate for coins and small bars.

My only question is if the bank system crashes can you take your gold or silver to Safeway or Walmart and buy groceries?

If the bank system crashes that bad, large businesses will fail as well. Then you'll be dealing person to person, and gold & silver will be the preferred medium of exchange because it has intrinsic value.

no but you can bargain with it, if the extreme happens, your best bet is to get old silver dollar and keep them they not 100% silver but enough to have serious value if all hell break loose, but then if you have enough firepower you can take what you want

Lol. Fuels is important too, but those three are the primary (butter just means food, for those who didn't know)

long term fuel goes bad, need to hit the auto part store also and get fuel additive to keep the fuel good, the bigger the tank the longer it lasts. Then think long term hit the ace store for seeds and a good mix not only summer but winter stuff like potato. Then also get a hold of a crossbow unless your good with a bow now and tons of arrows. Also learn how to make wood charcoal so you can create a cooking pit. Plus remember your the king of your new world look up the closest porn star and make sure she's on one of your first trips.

My friend and I were talking about this the other day and we both decided that we would go native. If there was some type of apocolypse or a Red Dawn scenario, by only using primitave weapons unless we really had to use firearms.

Save your ammo, get a reloader, grab some silencers, but only use them for defense or when absolutely necessary.

Nope, but like they said.....when the banks go, so do the corporations. More importantly, how much value will that green paper hold?

Per laws, bills are not actually money-they are "legal tender" (fiat money). They only have whatever value the Fed says they do.

Yup and go completely NATO and .22 LR so there wont be any doubt you can find ammo after.

Ideally, yes. 5.56, 7.62, 9mm will have no trouble but you'll be fine with other common calibers like .30-06 and .45 ACP. If you have a reloaded anything that can be made from a common caliber is fine (like .300 BLK)

Except for now.....when its hard to find ammo in any caliber.
