View Full Version : Whats the Future of USMG and 4th Generation Consoles?

With the Playstation 4 and Xbox 720 (or Durango) getting announced and set for a pretty quick release this holiday season, I've been thinkin, What is the future of the community? I haven't seen an open forum discussion about this topic and sooner the better. Is this going to be a stepping stone for the community with opportunity to advance and grow or is it going to be the same? Brain Storm or any idea's. Will new consoles bring more team based clan based first person shooters or will they revolutionize how games will be played. Nothing on the books just speculations and Idea's on how we all can make this better together, to see that with the new consoles we become a big power house in the gaming world and outside it. No question about it, our community has the potential to really be something outstanding and already is but we could progress on it further as I'm sure we always do, I mean with Radio Shows, Forums, Blogs, Staff, and so much shit itll take to long to mention. Brainstorm, Speculate, Hypothesize, Think of what else we could do that be fun, that the new coming generation of consoles could possibly bring. Off the top of my head I think that with the wide reaching experience we all have in the military and with our civilians careers, I believe we could aid those guys overseas now who are the new generation of soldiers, sailors, marines, airman, and somtimes coasties, Those who were only toddlers during 9/11 who are 17 now, who grew up with Call of Duty and Halo instead of getting into it in there teens or 20's, and shipping out. These guys comin back with PTSD or those of us who have it, we can use these new platforms mixed with our community to help these dudes, see people are there for them, have a fun team based sport with equal minded individuals and we can reach out to them We could work closer with Make a Sound Project and really take this community from online and in gaming to anyone physically. I mean we have endless possibilities, just a really cool thought.

Well to explore the capabilities all we really have done so far is guessed... outside the PS4 announcement about some of the capabilities we really are at a guessing game for the XBOX Durango. I think for the most part it's going to be more geared towards the multi-player aspect of gaming. It's more popular and that's what the populace wants. I do not agree that it should... if it's not broke why fix it? I believe the PS4 is supposed to be backwards compatible but no clue on the next XBOX. All I have to say is that there is nothing that has been announced that surprises me, or makes me want to buy one.
As far as USMG... The family? We'll be here until the internet dies.

I don't think a new console generation is really going to effect USMG at all. Most people will slowly transition from the current gen to the next gen, and we'll continue recruiting new people. So for the most part, it'll be business as usual.

But you're right-we'll be around until the internet changes. For awhile the console presences will be split, but no worries. We'll all be together again.

I'll get the new Xbox the day it drops but I'll also have the 360 to continue gaming with the family (USMG) until we get some on the new Xbox.

I agree the family wont ever die as long as we are all alive and kicking, we will just have more opportunities to expand our little empire. The more we broaden our outlets for the community the more we will grow. The radio part of it is a really great idea, and if we can keep getting people like the BFF crew and courtenay taylor we will get more we will be looked at. If we continue to do the charity campaigns like Extra-Life and maybe even some for other charities, people will look at us and say "Hey USMG is really giving gamers a good name." I think as long as we continue to try and make a difference this family will be around for a long time.

Agreed but I believe that with the new influx of people switching over we can really be that monument to stand foward and be the first to really develop clanned based gaming to the new consoles. Yes the family will be here but we can develop it further using this new technology, We'll see what the Xbox has in store because that is really going to be the main shit in the states. This is the first time USMG is active and present when the new consoles get released. Yes we'll probably be around for atleast the next 6+ years with consoles relatively staying the same other than some graphic, lay out, and processing increases, but using this we can get out there and really make more of a name for ourselves with the limited games that are on the new consoles. It's easily the greatest opportunity to expand this community will have in this decade.

Agreed especially since the next gen xbox is supposed to be running a windows 8 OS from what I have heard before. Maybe there will be some cross platform on PC and XBOX? Who knows it may be possible if they continue to run 8. I agree it is a great opportunity to get our name out there even more than now since it would be new people who havent gotten a console game yet may get one in the next gen so ya lets go full throttle into the future and see if we can get seen on all levels in the next generation of gaming.

I'm with you on this. I will definitely get the new one but won;t send the 360 to the grave until the transition of all the members moves to a new platform

I'll get a next gen within the first six months or so, depending on supply. And I figured since my current xbox has lasted as long as it has, I'll keep it around for my kids to play with. My daughter will be in to educational games in the next year or so, and it'll be many, many years before I need to worry about them getting a new one as well.

I'm a little confused, I guess. What is it you want to see happen when the next gen rolls out? A massive recruiting push to scoop up next gen gamers?

Not really just a recruiting push but a really active community in the limited titles that will be available, a way to have a vast amount of people see the name USMG get the name out. People see who we are and really be a staple community in this new generation of gaming.

I see what you are going for 100% but we are limited in the amounts of people we can bring in. You have to figure 13-18 year olds are the primary gaming group and we do not allow them in. The 18 year olds we do but only with military service. Not trying to limit your dream just being realistic haha. We have steadily been growing I have joined and I hope we continue to bring in amazing members. I personally am more about quality than quantity.

Kant hit on recruiting, but the other hurdle here is that USMG is a more laid-back, casual community. Just from the responses, we're not going to have a significant number of members who are camping out in order to pick up their next-gen console on release day.
I'm not saying don't go gung-ho and represent in every game you can.....but at the same time, remember what USMG is.

I had the red ring once, sent it in, bought a new one, (still 1st gen) then sold my brother in law the refurbished one. For like $150. He's still using it today.
I'm def gonna buy the new Xbox when it comes out but not till after the initial hyped up price drop after 3-4 months

Yes this ^^^^. Microsoft is rushing to get this out for Christmas to compete with Sony, so I don't plan on getting it until a little while after release. Let them work out the kinks and then I'll pick it up sometime in 2014!!!

That was some good wording.....The words were great and the main point you make is fsntastic.....
From my outlook... I'm at the "Meh" stage, with the new consoles. Nothing that is coming out on them, can't be had on the already existing gen. Couple that with the fact, that I just bought my new Ps3 and I haven't even had it for a full year yet...I'm in no rush to make the jump. Just for some slightly upgraded graphics platform in a shiny new plastic casing. But as for the the future of USMG...I think we'll be just fine.

We will be in a solid star and better positions to expand! I have already traded and sold off every ounce of my Xbox 360 collection to the Horrid GameStop to pay for my Xbox one... Madden 25, forza 5, dead rising 3, battlefield 4, COD Ghosts,watchdogs....have ryse on hold but not sure.... That's the last game I have to actually pay for...
