My girlfriend the non gamer . Now has a live account and was mad halo4 didn't have more than 2 local multiplayer so she grabbed black ops 2 and we played that with my 5 yr old. She hopes this GOW has 4 or more local multi or we buy another 360 for family shooter night. Haha

Ugh....my patience for Gears has long been gone. It's in the "I can't play this game without wanting to throw my console out the fucking window after I set it on fire" category...just like Halo.

Okay here is my "Official" review.

I have spent most of the day playing it. i played from about 0015 - 5am. Nobody was online playing Multiplayer so i jumped right into the campaign. Took a nap and jumped right back in for the remainder of the day until work at 1900.

Campaign:

They did a good job of retaining the Gears feel, yet trying to make it a different game. They have removed some features like carrying 4 guns at once, which is annoying but yet I like because I only really used two anyways. All of the perennial favorites are back. They have refreshed the guns and added new ones that are fun to use. They also added "In level challenges" These make the level harder at times, but you are striving for stars (More on those later) The challenges let you achieve a 3 star perfect status faster, but not without a price. For the sake of not ruining the story mode I will not speak of what i thought were the best and worst. They add a unique quality to the game.

The campaign story is good. It tells a whole new story but yet has the Gears feel. The graphics are damn good and I enjoyed watching all the cut scenes. Some games I just want to rush through it and play but this game made me want to take in everything thrown at me. The controls do take a minute to adjust Id admit but there isnt a learning curve, so youll be playing like a pro in no time

Horde or as they call it Survivial:

Horde has always been my favorite to play. They have completely revamped it. While I liked the traditional horde mode, this new mode is fun to play. They have added classes now. Think Battlefield meets Mass Effect. They have made Horde mode a true team aspect mode. No longer can you play and just merc people, you must work as a team to succeed which is a plus unless you have a team that sucks.

Multiplayer:

I didnt encounter any glitchers or lags, however I played early and I suspect many were playing Campaign. They have also redone this.

If you buy the VIP pass, you get access to double xp all the time on certain VIP maps. The ranking system is good. The maps are of course new but scarce right now. I think this is good because now I can learn each map thoroughly. The multi play is good and smooth. You just have to relearn the weapons and play style. All the good modes are there so you wont be sad.

All in all I do think the game is awesome. It is a nice refresh of a game I love to play. It is worth to me the price and the VIP (But only if you play Multi) if you dont then dont bother with the VIP.

One bonus is that if you get 40 stars you unlock another level from Gears 3. This is an extension of the game and is nice.

Verdict: Buy it and get your gears on!

Went ahead and finally finished the campaign. Time for insane run, never. That last level was hard as hell just on Normal.

Kinda went under the radar a bit but If you are a VIP pass holder the new DLC "Call to Arms" is available for download now. It will be available to everyone on 30 April. It contains 2 new MP maps, 1 Overrun map, and 1 new game mode.

I played it a lot, Brandon can attest to that. There wasn't as much Gears traffic on this one as there was for GoW 3. It's still an awesome game.

We did a good run through on that game. I agree it is the smallest showing I have ever seem on a Gears game. There is only 2-5 thousand online at anytime
