Lost Planet is great

Watch the Opening Moments of Lost Planet 3
Take your first steps on E.D.N. III.

Since its unveiling about one year ago, we've primarily seen Lost Planet 3 in small, contained demos or trailers that have been unveiled incrementally as the game approaches its release. In fact last year's E3 demo consisted of samples pulled from various parts of the game, designed to give a broad overview in a short period of time. But what will Capcom's Lost Planet prequel look like when it arrives on store shelves this June?

We wanted to find out, and we managed to convince Capcom to let us show you the first 30 minutes or so of the game, minus one cutscene right at the start, which contains some story spoilers that are being kept quiet for now. Barring that, this is how the game begins, with lead character Jim Peyton arriving on the icy planet E.D.N. III. You'll watch Jim discover how harsh this new world can be, see him discover his new home and base of operations, and journey with him on his first mission.

We're presenting this footage to you in two formats, each divided into three parts. The first part showcases Jim's arrival on the planet. The second focuses on his first exploration of NEVEC's base on E.D.N. III, where you'll talk to various NPCs, receive missions and upgrade your rig and weaponry. The last segment features Jim's first mission, as he sets out in his rig to find a missing comrade.

The first three videos you see below are game commentaries, as IGN's Rich George is joined by Capcom producer Andrew Szymanski. The two will discuss not only the footage you're watching, but the larger context of the game and a lot of the functionality that will play out as the game rolls on. The second format, if you don't want to get that constant chatter, is simply raw gameplay footage. As a side note, this footage is running on Xbox 360 and controlled by Szymanski.

Let's get to that footage, shall we?

I could not get the videos to embed here, so I'll provide links to them instead. First 3 are with commentary and the second set are without the commentary.
