I get DOD press releases at work today, and found found this blurb from a unit deployment announcement very interesting:

DOD Announces Units for Upcoming Rotation in Iraq


The Department of Defense announced today the alert of
replacement forces scheduled to deploy in support of Operation New Dawn.
Effective Sept. 1, 2010, the U.S. mission in Iraq is renamed from
Operation Iraqi Freedom to Operation New Dawn to coincide with U.S.
forces' shift to an advisory, assistance, training, and equipping role.
The alert announcement involves one infantry brigade from the Army
National Guard consisting of approximately 2,700 personnel.

Yeah, let's go ahead and just rename it maybe the bad guys will not attack us if we call it "Operation New Dawn"

can we just change it to operation kittens and puppies? Then it should be quite clear that we are not there to fight any sort of battle, just hanging out and showing love

just another way for generals to fly there for 30 days then come back so they can get yet another ribbon / medal on their chest.
