I had the brief chance to meet her while providing security for President Carter during the Economics Conference in Venice, 1980.

she was a major player in the end of the cold war supporting Reagan in every move we did. With her help we brought the damn communist to there knee by the late 80's.

I really wish I could find the picture (I think may step-father may have it) where I'm at a guard post in Dharahn, Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. I'm surrounded by all of these little Kuwati refugee kids, and they're asking me "You know George Bush? He numbah one." Then they actually asked (and I'm not making this up) "You know Margaret Thatcher? She numbah one."

I remember the Emir of Kuwait was down your way in Dharahn during the Gulf War. He passed away in 2006. He wanted to give all of the allied forces some outrageous amount of gold for the liberation of Kuwait.... That was one liberation where we were well appreciated.

Yeah, I got one of those original Liberation of Kuwait medals (the Kuwaiti version) awarded after we got back home. Supposedly it has real gold in it...at least that was the rumor.

If there is a humorous side to Margaret Thatcher's passing is the left wing loonies that are celebrating her passing. They were tweeting the following 'thank god Thatcher is dead'. It was sent with the hash tag looking like this '#thankgodthatcherisdead'. Many were confused and read it 'thank god that Cher is dead.... I guess that adds a whole new meaning to I got you babe.

By the time I got back, all the 'desk jockeys', snatched up the real medals (supposedly gold). It was just another uniform gig for inspections....lol
