For the second year in a row, readers of the consumer-watchdog website The Consumerist have named Electronic Arts "the worst company in America," vilifying the video game publisher more than Bank of America, Comcast and Ticketmaster (which took second, third and fourth places, respectively). The results of the poll are hardly surprising -- even EA predicted it would repeat the dubious honor -- but they were certainly conclusive.
EA faced stiff competition en route to the championship round, besting fellow disliked companies Anheuser-Busch, Facebook and AT&T before squaring off against Bank of America in the final round of voting. BofA proved no match, however, as EA captured a decisive 78 percent of the vote (http://consumerist.com/2013/04/09/ea-makes-worst-company-in-america-history-wins-title-for-second-year-in-a-row/) to take home the not-so-coveted "Golden Poo" award. It’s the second straight "win" for EA and the second straight runner-up nod for Bank of America.
EA was cited for its love of microtransactions, the price of its games and its irritating DRM practices, among other issues. But the disastrous SimCity launch (http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/simcity-launch-complete-disaster-201105322.html) was a particular sore point.

Well, technically not a developer. They are a publisher. But their practices are imposed on many of their developing companies.

The reining, defending champs of EVIL. That's pretty awesome they predicted a second win. Gotta have goals.

They have such big titles it blows me away they can't be successful. Most of it has to do with bugs and shitty customer support.

I have a bone to pick with alot of the customer support with other gaming companies, not just EA. I still like there EA Sports games.

Yeah I love the Maddens etc. "EA Sports it's in the game..." on my SNES changed my life haha... they have since quit caring about what made them great to begin with.

While mildly amusing, its kind of sad and really pathetic as well. Who cares about people losing their homes, lost radiation rods, or record-breaking criminal fines for natural disasters that are still ruining people's lives. DRM and microtransactions in free games!! Evil!!

I agree with you on this. Always loved the Madden Franchise and the early Tiger Woods. I remember the first time I heard that when I popped in Madden. Too bad they have strayed away from what made them great in the first place.

Agreed. The last Madden I played was on the original XBox and PS2. I do have Tiger Woods 08, 09, and 10 for the PS3.

not surprised at all they are destroying franchises while claiming to be victims if I was the CEO of it I would be telling the people to cut the bullshit and do it right or not at all. To be releasing great games that are COMPLETE they need to be in production for a few years not 18 months like ME3. I have no problem with DLC but to have them finish a game that should have been complete before release is ridiculous and people wonder why consumers are complaining.

I think when you say 18 months, you really mean over 2 years.....since it started development in late 2009. Prior to Mass Effect 2 launching.
And when such a vast percentage of the complaints for Mass Effect 3 revolve around its story.......how do you blame EA for ruining it?

Look at Need for Speed the quality of game play and any type of story went down big time, Medal of Honor yes recently it has came back but only after buying out DICE and look at BF3 the campaign was crap the MP was so buggy the first few months after launch. Look at EA Sports its quality has gone down big time the big change is its harder to play and there is a new number on the box. Yes ME3 was mainly complained about because of its story but the mandatory addition of multiplayer into the single player was no less then complete bullshit. Companies like Bungie, Bethsheda, and CD Projekt Red are doing it correctly by releasing the games when they are finished not releasing them and then doing 5 DLC's to finish the game like EA has and is.

Actually I thought the BF3 MP was pretty solid on release. It was pretty balanced. Some annoying bugs, but nothing major and nothing that affected gameplay too much.

I haven't played Need For Speed in several years, so can't comment on those. I disagree completely with EA Sports, though.
ME3's multiplayer was awesome, sorry. It was a great addition, but it wasn't mandatory. Just like beating a Halo game on Legendary isn't mandatory. But you did get a pretty cool bonus for pkaying 3-4 matches.
Bungie is basically controlled by Activision, just like Bioware and EA, and we're not even going to pretend that Activision is somehow better. If you call Bethesda's launches as some form of shining example, you clearly weren't around when Skyrim launched. Or when the expansions weren't playable on PS3. As for CD Projekt Red, you clearly never played The Witcher, and missed out on all the fun launch issues its sequels had........the only two games its released.
In unrelated news, apparently I'm unable to play Steam games offline anymore. I guess disconnecting Steam from the internet makes it require a new update.......

I would say the best game at release was Halo 4. It needed very few tweaks to MP, Campaign was awesome and had a lot of work in it. But that's the exception in my experience.

343 / MS did an excellent job there, for sure.

I read the article and saw that Comcast is in the top 5. Go figure, cause i'm having bullshit issues with my internet connection.
Can you believe they are charging $5.95 to talk to a tech support person. WTF!

Since when? I talked to tech support all the time, and was never charged. Is it new, or regional?

That sucks. Terrible business model. Only time I could see that is if your products were absolutely golden and never had bugs. Even then, still pretty ridiculous.

Of course, last time I played the SAW was still ridiculously OP'd. But that's a minor issue overall.

We went straight to tech support vs talking to customer service. Still can't believe that bitch tried to charge me
i for 1 am a MMORPG player before FPS/FTS. and i have released some pretty shitty gmae releases but im not defending anyone in general just the genre of MMORPG since ive alpha/beta/released just about all of them but a few. The Piublisher ALWAYS get the short end of the stick half them time and the other the deserve, its the developer thats the main cuplrit and then the money behind it pushing the developers to work 24/7 to release on time because they will release on time and then the publisher on the big WoW buster game dont promote it worse shit and the release is flawless but doesn't have the plank-owner base to catapult it to the WoW and then draw on the many disgruntled fans that want to play MMORPG but non others out there except WoW. My 1st puter was a 187 with Dos i know that dates me. lol i started in MUDDS and then UP and beyond. theres always someone at fault but the one that gets it is the one at the bottome of the hill that the shit stops at, and us military regs/vets no all to well what that feels like. i geot the short end of the stick so many times that i held a E-6 job as ab E-4 cause of my awesome work ethic and ability to motivate my troops to move hell a little lower. but i didn't kiss ass i enstead took care of my troops, sacrificing myself for them so they didnt get enthing that was not warrented by them. but few companies go that route they would rather sell out and use a fall guy/company to make money even though and awesome title fails.
