MWF4 - Call of Duty Ghosts

Here some info about the new MWF


Activision’s next Call of Duty title is reportedly called Call of Duty: Ghosts (http://www.ign.com/games/call-of-duty-next-gen-project/pc-126764). The rumor comes via YouTube user Drift0r (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQBprYUW3gk) who claims that a “very legitimate” source provided him with information regarding the game’s announcement, modes and much more.
According to Drift0r, Ghosts is straying away from the Modern Warfare brand but will similarly use present-day weaponry. The game is set in the future but a plot point will force characters to use weapons from the past. Ghosts will change player movement, allowing them to dash and slide while shooting, peek around corners and roll side-to-side while prone.

Ghosts allegedly features dynamic loading screens (such as rappelling from a helicopter or breaking a window to enter an area) and has destructive environments in single-player (these may be implemented in multiplayer later). Spec Ops has also been replaced by a new mode.
Ghosts will reportedly only be released on next-generation consoles and PC, which fits with previous rumors (http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/01/18/report-infinity-ward-prepping-next-gen-call-of-duty) that Infinity Ward is creating a next-gen Call of Duty title. According to Drift0r, Ghosts is targeting early May for its announcement.
We’ve reached out to Activision about the rumor and will update this story with any comment we receive.

I'm pretty sure its going to stay a FPS but have the ghost recon feel. Meaning the game will be in the future but will continue to have weapons from our time.

Ahhh..that's right. Forgot about that. Who know's what they really are aiming for. You can't base a game much on word of mouth. Once an actual trailer or someone from activison comes out and say's what it's actually going to be, is when we'll really know what the game is going to be about

agreed, the claim of being able to roll while prone would indicate 3rd person because that sort of thing just doesn't work in 1st person. Imagine spinning your screen 360 degrees, it would cause vertigo in some cases and be disorienting as hell. I too am unsure about the credibility of this source. Was it an april fools joke stumbled across late?

yea but the bad part with this is that if rumors are true about it being a next gen game it will suck for most but the other bad part is just like every next gen system that comes out they all have bugs that still need worked out. and I do agree blops 2 was a huge let down at least on the multi player side treyarch just isn't ready to step up in the world.

Far cry 3 had a great slide system. And the rolling thing will be the same as arma3 your screen will stay the same or rotate to give a disadvantage on shooting...

Its been done....but generally not done well. True first person tends to look cheesy and arcady....maybe that'll make it perfect for CoD. A first to third would be fun, though.

Was reading another article, and another problem with this "inside source" information is the fact that the name and story content aren't the whole story. The other half of his big reveal was that Activision would be making these next-gen exclusive. Given that the annual CoD launch is around the same time as the projected console release dates......this would be an amazingly stupid move considering Activision's typical penny-pinching business model. I can't see them making an exclusive game until next-gen consoles are prolific enough to support their sale numbers.

I think the whole Ghost title is just a new story line for the campaign mode. They wanted to get away from the Modern Warfare theme. I bet it's nothing like Ghost Recon at all.

I don't know. Because they were so far apart, games had changed so much that repition would severely degrade the game. But if you put them close together, then you make it easy for repetition to happen.

And honestly, given Premium costs, you basically bought a second game in that year period anyway. Considering that, new engine aside, there really weren't any major changes to gameplay......what is the difference?

The new engine, with all the destruction it enabled, completely changed the way you played the game. So yeah, kind of a big change. That being said, I don't see what they can add that would make that much of a difference. You do make a good point about premium though.

The new engine, which made the existing destruction prettier, and is disliked by just as many....if not more people who preferred BC2's destruction, wasn't really that huge a change. :D:cool:

Funnies aside, BF3's destruction is prettier and more dynamic, but I'd take BC2's more scripted destruction any day. If anything, the new engine gave you less destruction.

You're right though, that games reach a point where there just isn't much left they can do to make big changes without making radical game changes that can end up changing the nature of the game.

Ok I have been quiet with this, I really think a new engine would be nice but I want new game play, I wish the perks would be more combat related, like scout dog perk where you have a four legged buddy that using the left toggle switch you issue commands, Engineer you can toggle through the lethal that you want medic you can heal your team, now I would love to see this and more. Almost back to the battlefield class. They give you all these killstreaks and half the time everyone is running around with blind-eye and ghost and don't even give a care about shooting anything down. If they took away all the perk the way they have it would become a more tactical game not one where you run and gun. Maps ok the latest map from BO2 backstage is the same map from BO in the jungle they just changed the scenes, come one you can't come out with a new map hell just give all the BO maps when BO2 came out if your going to do that. I'm actually hoping MW4 does not do that well so they change it up but I know it will sell like they usually do.

I think it's just the character packs that are annoying me because we all know they should have simply been in the game to begin with. If its adding gameplay and storyline that's one thing.

I haven't liked Halo's and CoD's DLCs because they have pretty much just been maps. Halo 4 did it better with the Spartan Ops, though they were not paid DLC. Battlefield at least added new modes, weapons, and vehicles. That's about the extent of my experience as those are the only 3 franchises I've played.

CoD: entire level falls, various routes become cut off, new ones open up. Probably not dynamic

BF4: one are of the map falls, that area becomes cut off/route changed. Timing may be dynamic, but the destruction is most likely scripted.

Infinity Ward has fully revealed the Squads mode it teased last week for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

As revealed in Infinity Ward's Call of Duty live stream today, Squads lets players take the squads of soldiers created in multiplayer and carry them into Squads mode for use in single-player, cooperative multiplayer or competitive multiplayer.

Playing in Squads will earn players XP that will apply to multiplayer, so players will rank up and can unlock additional weapons and equipment.

Squads modes revealed so far include:


Squad vs Squad - Two-player competitive multiplayer, pitting you & your squad vs. your opponent & their squad
Squad Assault - Play against another player’s squad – even when they’re offline in up to six-player co-op. Match-make against squads or select one of your friend’s squads. Offline players can determine the loadouts of their squad, as well as the map and mode that their squad will defend
Wargame - You and a squad of five soldiers vs. another squad, swap out your custom soldiers at any time with a friend for quick co-op play

Infinity Ward executive producer explains some of the changes to sniper rifles in Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin has explained how the developer is working to change sniper rifles in this year's Call of Duty: Ghosts, adding that the series' traditional "quick-scoping" techniques have been affected.

Rubin says that the new Marksman class in Ghosts has allowed the developer to focus on high-calibre weaponry.

"The changes we’ve made," said Rubin on Twitlonger (http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rma8rl), "like dual render scopes and increased damage really make snipers a great competitive class to use. We’ve also done a lot with map design (sight lines and cover) to ensure that all classes are viably effective."

"Both short range and long range classes will be effective on the same maps," he added.

"However in re-envisioning sniper rifles some aspects, such as sway timing, have changed the way sniper rifles function and so traditional 'quick-scoping' has been affected. Is it gone completely? Maybe. It certainly won’t be viable in the way it previously was."

"Can’t wait for you snipers out there to get your hands on these new sniper rifles and try them out for yourselves," concluded Rubin.

Infinity Ward previously confirmed that the Xbox One and PC versions of Call of Duty: Ghosts would support dedicated servers.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released in November for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U.

Ehhh...that doesn't eliminate lag per se, just eliminates lag switching pretty much. Does put the burden on your connection (which for most people is fine). But I agree it's a plus.

That's what I plan to do but I tell you what, it really does seem like everyone is moving over to BF.

I remember us having a huge community of those who rolled on COD but BF looks like its taking over.

I honestly feel like there's only going to be a hand full or two of us who will play this game

I would double check on that and get a guarantee. From everyone I have talked to and read the transferring for 10 bucks only applies from 360 to XB1 and PS3 to PS4. And I thought you were gonna get the XB1?
