Anyone have any experience with this set up? I find myself in a position of having an extra tv to use as a computer monitor. Looking for good, bad, other.

ive done the other way around... hdmi to dvi.. works great ..amazon has great and cheap cables with the attached conversion.. what type of tv? some are better then others.. but most tv cant hold a candle to the lowest quality monitor..thats just the nature of the beast

Several years ago bought a big heavy tv/monitor so I could practice my presentations this was also the TV that the original xbox & PS2 was hooked up to. Just had to hook the computer cable to you laptop/PC and share screen.

It'll work fine-just get an adapter (you'll over pay a bunch if you buy from Walmart or Best Buy-go online). But like Crzy said-the quality will be much less than a computer monitor. I'd sit a good ways away from it.

Its a 37 inch LED.

Yeah, but the pixels won't be as fine as they would on a monitor.

A 37-inch 1920x1080 (1080p) TV has a PPI (pixels per square inch) of about 59.5
A 21.5-inch 1366x768 (720p) Monitor has a PPI of about 72.9 (and that is a low-quality monitor)
A 24-inch 1920x1080 Monitor has a PPI of about 91.8
And if you have a really high quality monitor, a 27" 2560x1440 monitor has a PPI of about 108.8.

yeah having a 37inch as a secondary montior would be good for multi media, games, and the such.. i would keep all texted base info on your monitor... docs and web browsing.. will be easier to read.. but i bet steam big picture will look amazing on that 37 inch!!
