I don't think the Girl Scouts are very outdoor-focused (they've always been less so than the Boy Scouts). As for the BSA's merit badge, it's supposedly going to be for Game Design. Still inside, but not quite as sedentary as merely playing.

Yeah, its game design. I was pretty skeptical at first, but it actually looks pretty cool when you go through the reqyirements for it. Too bad it appears most news outlets can't see past "video games."

Well, they just care about whatever will get them more readers. I haven't actually looked at the requirements, but my dad wasn't impressed.

Not bad. I probably would have tried to get it when I was in scouts. But overall a lot of the newer badges are kinda lame

Looks pretty reasonable. I didn't do Cub Scouts, so I don't know how difficult/easy/meaningful things would be at that age.
