With so many great and often times cheesy movies coming out of the 1980s, which one would be deemed the greatest movie? What is your favorite? If I could only choose one...my favorite would be The Empire Strikes Back! Let the debate begin!

Red Dawn, PLT, Full metal Jacket

That's a tough one cause their were a lot of good movies....I would have to say Red Dawn as well but you can't leave out Ferris Bueller's Day Off as one of the all time greats.

Empire strikes back, raiders of the lost ark, die hard, breakfast club, ghostbusters, platoon, fast times..., the shining, aliens, so many more.

Almost all of what we watch and play and even read now had its movie or major defining sequel in this short 10 years.

I would have to say Die Hard cause every day I wonder what if somwhere hostiles took over or when I am playing football I say yippie ki yay, motherfucker and fists with your toes.

Lots of memories with all those movies you've listed already. Easily Empire and Raiders were my faves. Love Ferris as well. Gotta give some love to the first Back to the Future flick as well, plus First Blood and Rambo: First Blood Part 2. And of course, the original Terminator.

I totally spaced Rambo, I love that series, I hope they make the latest idea.

You added even more to the list. I am now convinced their can not be a number 1.

That's the problem I have...too many to choose from for there to be only one...and no that was not a reference to Highlander...or was it

I never played the game but I do remember rewinding the part where the Asian kid got booby trap mixed with booty trap

The Lost Boys...can't count how many times I seen that film. Near Dark came out the same year and was great as well.

I'd have to say Return of the Jedi. I never liked ESB (and I haven't seen a ton of other 80s movies).

The only SW film I liked less than Empire was Menace. And subtract stupid Anakin and JAr-jar and maybe it's even better.

To be honest, if you were going to name a single movie as the "best of the 80's", it'd have to be E.T.

Beyond that there are some excellent movies here, but missing......and every bit as awesome......

Willow
Top Gun
Beverly Hills Cop

And about a dozen I was thinking of yesterday and can't remember. I'm sure I'll think of them later, though. Generally right in the middle of something else.

Aged very badly, though. Would definitely make the list of "greatest movies you can no longer sit through."

I'm sure that's an Army of Darkness sequel and not a remake.

jxspyder
05-09-2013, 07:45
Its both.

Army of Darkness is the third movie in the Evil Dead trilogy. The first film remake is out now. The sequel is in the works, but Raimi wants to make Army of Darkness 2, and tie both trilogies together in a seven film series.
