So I tend to actively avoid the political bs that my dad can't live without, but the reporting on this is getting pretty ludicrous.

Anyone else watching/hearing anything?

I saw a picture of Hillary Clinton on the article so I just ignored it. What's it about?

Congress is interviewing 3 members of the State Dept. who are contradicting some of the statements made previously by state dept officials, including Clinton and her chief of staff, as well as the White House.

Basically, switching between channels, one side is implying a coverup to protect Obama's re-election and the other is suggesting what happened doesn't matter and this is all an attack to smear Clintons election bid in 2016.

To be honest, I think I gotta go with Fox on this one. The fact that 8 months later we still don't have answers to who decided what, as well as Hicks' statements....especially about the "youtube video that caused this event", is pretty much an outright disgrace.

There are just too many questions out there and hearing some of the statements the guys close to the action have made make me wonder.

This is my take on all of this, The Rep always want to damn and try to impeach any Dem president, were the Dem just bad mouth a Rep President, Congress never tried to impeach Bush over stating a war on false pretense. This was a horrible event some think you can move military asset with a drop of a dime in a non combat area. Yes it looks like a drop of communications but if we were to react to every time something happens at a embassy/mission we might as well station a Marine Inf bat at everyone. You have to remember this also happened at a CIA covert house, so I'm sure the CIA had something to say or trump the state department. Everyone forgets the great President Regan allowed 220 US Marines to die because of sending troops into a hot zone and only allowing a single clip of ammo per Marine and it could not be loaded in your rifle, no congressional hearing on that, and very few memorials for those young Marines from 1/8.

That's true, but just because people didn't jump over previous incidents doesn't mean we shouldn't get up in arms (figuratively) this time, it just means the next time a Republican does something stupid, we should jump on him too.

come on breeze you can comment, that why we all served to keep the freedom of speech, I know I'm one of the few left of center gun totting Dem here but I will say I have voted for more Rep presidents then Dem over my life. I just think they are pissing in the wind over this. The reality is they are putting so much into this now to try to shape 2016 rather then looking at reforming the GOP party in a whole, numbers tell everything the % of white voters has dropped over the last 10 yrs which make up over 90% of the GOP vote. The African American and Hispanic vote has increased over that same time period and white women make up 60 % of the white vote, also with 70 % of Americans living in large metro areas which are more blue then red, the GOP has to change, not because I say and want them but we need to two solid parties to make this democracy work in the long run.

So what you're saying is, since Americans have died before, its okay for the President or his appointees to lie to the American people now?

Yes, it does look like a drop in communication......because it was. Requests for added security were denied, and now people are dead. There is no hypothetical "if we reacted to every situation...." to this. The pooch was screwed. Is it difficult to move troops? Absolutely. Does that justify telling soldiers who are standing by and ready to go to stand down? Not so much. Was there a reason they were told to stand down? No idea, because apparently no one knows who gave that order....

And sure, it looks like a Republican witch hunt. That tends to happen when lies are pointed out and no answers are given as to who, when, and why.

what I'm was saying its happened before and will happen again, the 4 SF troops that wanted to go in and denied smells like CIA, 1st why were the SF troops alerted and an C-130 was ready to go (ok C-130 that has the stench of CIA all over it) then told to back down. if they need to go after anyone it probably the CIA, last thing they wanted is to have the Government see what was going on in that house, which is why we will never know and to waste time and energy on a witch hunt when we have a lot of more important thing to try to get straight is why most Americans hate the Federal Government.

Also how many request to added seceruity have happened over the years Yemen, Chad, Kenya and list goes on and on, jut like us people who join the diplomatic corp go in knowing that they could be put in harms way.

So yes, it's happened before, so sweep it under the rug and ignore it.

Sorry, I can't agree with that.

Toby, I appreciate your opinion. I just have first hand knowledge of some of what you opined about. I don't like talking about Religion, Politics or Salaries (or is that Celery). Anyway I don't hale to the Repubs or Dems, in fact I find little use for people trying to run a conflict (big or small) from some air-conditioned office in D.C.
I think responsibliity by our elected leaders, in all actions is greatly lacking. Being that we are all currently Military or former Military affiliated, you learn to take responsibilities for your decisions. It is easy to put blame on the Commander in Chiefs, but I know not all that happens is theirs alone to carry.
As a leader, I took responsiblity for my actions, and shunned credit when a plan was successful... then it was the teams/units success to share.
More specifically, I am not sure what the reference to false pretense that President Bush started the war over? As far as President Reagan allowing 220 Marines to die... He can take responsibilty for that (as a leader) but I will take responsibility for a few of them myself. I don't think either or any of us allowed them to die.

Truer words were never spoken. It's more or less a snowball effect on what we have allowed our government to do to us. It's no longer about the people but about individual goals.

Your saying a lot of what I'm saying, but this is a witch hunt plan and simple. If this was a Rep pres would this being going on, probaly not. If you ask me this Pres get more shit from the right not for his views and action but simply because white america Rep can't stand to have an African Amercian as pres, base root cause. Reagan did own up to messing up the ROE, this Pres owned up to what happened to what he know at the time. Unless the shadow int community comes out to tell their story we will never know, but why are we every 2 months rehashing this in the media and congress. Just like the usuless vote against the obamacare, which has some bad parts but the majority is a great idea and will be better once they make some amendments too it.

Dude, put the race card away. Obama isn't getting shit for being black. He's getting shit for what he does and says, plain and simple.

And sorry, Obamacare is a travesty that ahould never have come to be. I guess that happens when laws are made that no one gets to read. Its overbudget, it's constitutionally illegal.....which is why the entire employer mandate is in court....hell, it classifies smoking as a pre-existing condition. And then taxes it.

Thank you spyder.
I don't beleive race has anything to do with the political issues of today... Although, some will use the 'race card' to push an agenda.
Just to counter Toby's statement a bit... Good Ole, Abe Lincoln had a "R" for republican party and what did he do for civil rights? Also the Civil Rights Amendment of 1963-1964 was passed by more than 80% (88% through the House) of those with the same "R"... (and only about 60-69% by those with a "D").
As I said I don't have a 'D' or 'R' on my voting record... because both parties have flaws. I prefer facts over a media portrayal.
I know about the 'ROE' in Beirut, First Hand. I also know (if you were incinuating) the justification for the war in Iraq, was valid, justified, and voted upon by both parties. As far as impeachment... Nixon? (another 'R').
Supposedly, our Commanders in Chief are held to the same standards that we followed while in uniform. With that said, I am not surprised we haven't impeached them all. Those that served or are serving, know that a lie, false reporting, untrue statements, or whatever you want to say they are, would not only result in the pulling of your security clearance but result in some great 'door prizes' throught the UCMJ.
I just ask for fairness and facts. Take Responsibility and give credit (where it is due). Have an opinion but be mindful of the truth.

I love lively debate but I have to head to Western PA now would love to give you a paragraph or two counter issue but maybe next week once I return, 1 thing know one will ever offend me unless you do a direct attack on me, we are just discussing issues and there are always 2 or more sides too each issue. Just wanted to say that so know one think we are getting nasty, this is what we do as Americans. Later.

i agree Mike, that's why I am not affiliated with a party either, Rey both have great ideas as well as awful ones, not a fan of partisan politics. Too many great ideas are passed over because two sides can't agree. As far as the moonshine goes...I have a nice collection of ole smoky Tennessee moonshine at the moment, highly recommended lol
