Is anyone planning on purchasing either the Ouya or Game Stick. They seem interesting but I'm not sure yet....but I do think the industry could use a shot in the arm with some innovative games.

They look pretty cool. Don't know if I am a 100% sold on it yet. I'll wait to see if they take off. I would hate to buy into something again that just ends up as an expensive paperweight like my HD-DVD and mini-disc players

The Ouya is officially out and Amazon already sold out of their allotment. The Kickstarter console that could, Ouya, is available now at retail in North America and the UK. The $99 Android-based device can be purchased at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target and GAME. Now lets see how this little cube does

From my understanding yes. It's a console that can play all your Android games

Seems kind of pointless then. I only play android games to pass the time at work.

I'm with you on that. But I think it will be a success for the casual gamer who primarily plays games on their phone. Could also help boost Sony and Microsoft because if the casual gamer enjoys the Ouya and becomes a gamer they may decide to upgrade at a later date.

That's true. It could be a sort of stepping stone. That's what the Wii could have been if they hadn't tried to play with the big boys.

I would consider getting it for my kids, and yeah they would eventually upgrade to a real system. I see it as being more of a novelty though. Why have all that when you can just get a tablet that lets you play all those games plus everything else they do?

I would only say to that it is a way cheaper option than a tablet. But I see what your saying

They want it to be more than Angry Birds from what I have read, I know that anyone can create games for it and it can be modded at will. There are no special tools required to open it up and have a go at it. Every game has to be free to try, its an open source console. It also has the ability to stream shows, movies and music and use other apps. The great thing is it is so damn small that it is really portable, the console is about the size of a rubics cube

I think so too, I want them to succeed so it gives some of the smaller guys a chance to create some great games. We need some more creativity and innovation, they will never compete with the big boys, but that's not what they are after anyway
