One of my greatest pet peeves is when people mistreat the flag that I hold dear and will defend with my last dying breath. I have found myself all too often having to correct military members on the proper display, handling, and destroying of unserviceable flags. This is a symbol of our country, its citizens, and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice defending it so that those who choose not to fight can still be comforted by the blanket of freedom we all provide. Please always have respect for the flag and politely inform others who may simply not know any better. I have attached a link that has all the information you may need.

Good info. I always light my flag at night. One of my pet peeves. I told my neighbor about it and now he lights his too. :)

I have seen businesses flying tattered flags and neighbors not displaying it properly, so I always politely inform them, I have helped some businesses honorably dispose of unserviceable flags in the past

we do 2 flag retirement ceremonies a year with my VFW and the local boy scouts, we have a drop off box in front of the VFW for anyone to drop them off. Please see below for the ceremony.

Yeah we always used to burn flags in scouts. Still so many I see flying tattered though.

It's difficult to get some businesses or people to stop because they either don't care our don't want to buy a new flag....I've given some to elderly people strong the neighborhood

even worse I'll get a pic of this the church about 1/2 miles from my house has a sign that reads: God first; then vets. This has me pissed I left a note saying if it was not for vets they might not be able to pray in the first place, just left it yesterday when I went for a run taped it over the vets part.
