Did anybody ever play this? It was my favorite game ever as a kid, and I just for it for $6 on-line (link (http://www.gog.com/gamecard/total_anihilation_commander_pack)). And I also just found that they are making an updated one: Planetary Annihilation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planetary_Annihilation). I cannot freaking wait!

ooh that looks fun. I need a game like that but with a co op ability. my son and I have been trying Kingdom of keflings but he wants to kill people at the same time.

Pretty sure just like TA, PA is PC-only, but it has online play.

cool with me. I prefer strategy games to be on PC. lots more ease of control. I will have to keep an eye out for the new one,.

Alpha is June, Beta is July/August, release I think it said September. They raised over $2.2 million for development on kickstarter.

Yeah I think that's the Alpha. I'll probably wait till the Beta (play around with TA till then). You might want to try TA beforehand to see how you like the style. For $6, not a big risk.

ok, I need more cheap games in that realm for my son, so I will look to get it this weekend

Didn't do a lot of gaming in 98 when I first came in and haven't dabbled in PC gaming that much. Never really had a computer that could handle gaming

Yeah I forgot that most people on here are console gamers. I am too, but I was a PC gamer first.

I know, I was playing it today. So fun but I remembered the commander having better health. I lost a mission today because I wasn't paying attention and a submarine got him.

So I haven't played total annihilation in awhile, but I finally broke down and bought Planetary Annihilation today. It's downloading now. Anyone play this? I'd love to play cooperatively with someone.

It's in Gamma Phase (basically advanced Beta). There are bugs and unfinished promised features, but for the most part it's quite good. And as far as I can tell, they fix bugs quite rapidly so it's always new ones, not the same annoying ones all around. I will probably write a full review once it is feature-complete for the homepage. I'd definitely recommend it when it's done, but it's not bad right now.

And yeah, TA was the best RTS I've ever played until PA. Won tons of awards too, and at the time was acclaimed as the best game of all time by some.

Please do! I need more players! (There's never many on at one time, since it's in Gamma Phase). But usually there's 3 or 4 games to choose from.

Planetary Annihilation Gamma (early release, includes access to the full game on release) is part of the Steam Summer Sale now for $16.99 (reg. $49.99). I'd highly recommend it at that price - it's a great game so far.

Planetary Annihilation is currently on sale (for the next 40 hours) for only $4.49! It's one of the best RTS games IMO
