Taking a break from Defiance

This morning I suddenly lost at least 30 EGO level points. This is not the first time I have lost EGO level points, but this time I was carefully watching the number. For those of you who have been playing regularly, I think you can agree I have spent a huge amount of time learning to play this game. Lately, I have been working hard to increase weapon ratings for my assault rifle and BMG to go after NIM. It has taken forever for me to get to the EGO level I had...1899 and then zap! I now am at 1869 again. It also popped that I have finally leveled up the BMG-no ego unit was forthcoming. I submitted a ticket to Trion. Unless I am mistaken, the EGO level impacts what loot drops for me and what is apt to pop up in a lockbox. I refuse to buy orange items from others. I should be able to win or buy them in the game.

I came to the conclusion I was going to have to start learning to play PVP to increase my ego rating. I thought I would start with Shadow Wars to begin learning. I learned that I can spawn- take no more than two steps- and be shot by a cloaker with a shotgun. Granted, I am a NOOB but really...I just don't get using cloak when playing PVP. Sneaking up on a larger force when one is outnumbered or outgunned- that seems ok to me. Player against player? No, I just don't get it. As far as "style" of play? Does not seem "stylish" to me at all- I would call it cheating. I don't mind being killed by a better or even lucky player...I know I will learn and get better. I tried the Waterfont once but I really don't want a team to lose because I am not a good PVP player yet.

I love the show and I did like the game very much, but as I have become increasingly frustrated with the game, I have decided I need a break. I will be checking in occasionally with Defiance, since I long ago purchased the Season Pass and the DLC is supposedly going to appear at some point, but I am now going to go working on my gaming skills elsewhere. I have just loaded Borderlands 2 and I also have the DLC pack. Let's see how that goes.

Sorry to hear that. But it's not surprising, the X-box side of the house has been plagued with these problems for quite awhile. PS3 had these issues but after the patch a lot of it was fixed... as for PVP, it's true that most run cloak but other's will run decoy to counter it. All in all, it's a good balance with the power sets. But for your first time, you should've jumped into a TDM not Shadow War. Shadow War isn't noob friendly by any measure.

I complety agree with you and your frustrations. Ever since I've had the game I have not had an enjoyable server stability experience. I haven't gotten far in terms of ego, but from where I have been, getting dropped from server, graphics spikes, no friends list.. when in clearly playing with friends and it downturn show them online, getting put in random clans, and when I leave clan it puts me right back into it. 2hr patch downlaods every other 2 days or so. And so on....
It got to the point where I would look at the game and just say NAAAW.... I've put in multipule tickets and don't get a fix, I was done. And now we w8 a test for the show to come back on, people will forget all about defiance by then....lol....
Ohh well...that's the story of gamming...

Thanks for the support and advise. I did devote perks to set up decoy to work on the cloaked ones, but I was saving that technique for team matches, because in my mind, that would be a coordinated effort kind of thing. I have another character bobbibot02 that I can play with to rerun the original stuff which may entertain me until the DLC comes out. I still want to level up the assault rifle and BMG to take on Nim. He whupped my butt a few times already and I would like to open a can on him before new stuff comes out. I have played Borderlands2 the last couple of days and I missed my assault rifle from Defiance.:faint:Yeppers, I do get sentimental.

Whether it's organized or pug groups with Sensor Sweep equipped. You're pretty well covered, when it comes to cloaked opponents on PvP. Also look into Rear Guard, Feedback, Kinetic Transfer or Blast Shield for the Det users.

OK, I have defeated Nim...and I am now going through the whole series of missions again. This is for practice and with the hope that good weapons and particularly mods will drop for me. Still learning and still trying to level up weapons. It will be new set of challenges with the DLC.

According to the forums on Trion- August rather than July as anticipated, but July is over anyway. It is up on the screen when I log in to play so I suspect pretty soon or they would not dare put it up there. All last weekend I was repeatedly booted and lost server connection over and over. Early Saturday morning they took the servers down for "routine maintenance." Early meaning about 5 am - I had been locked in battle with Nim since 11 pm the night before...almost had him and they took the servers down. I was not about to try again until Sunday when the servers seemed stable for a period of time. I got the jerk finally. Anyway, my point is that I think their server crashes and routine maintenance on a weekend may mean they are gearing up. (Or it could just mean they have problems again, but I am a glass half full type most of the time.)

From all the butt kicking he has suffered from USMG lately. I play through the whole think again and whupped his butt twice. I am still only at 2500 points. Probably due to my incompetence with modding, and I have not done well on the speed challenges or the hot shots. I am ashamed to say I have not found all the data recorders either. I am a little ashamed to admit I used an immunizer and a sub machine gun both times. It still took me hours to take him down. The second time around of was faster of course but still...

Since we are going to be dealing with the Volge alot with the upcoming DLC, I have been trying to level up my Long Shot Cannon. One of the very few orange weapons I possess. I am shooting everything with that Cannon...arkfalls, bugs, the afflicted, scrappers...and of course the Volge. Unfortunately, it is modded incorrectly or it would probably do more damage, still it makes a dent.

I have spend the better part of two days doing arkfalls and putting loot in the Matrix to get ark cash to add slots to a blue assault rifle. I have to say that I have used a white assault rifle the most because it is much cheaper to reset the points on it. 90,000 to add a mod slot? Geez....heaven knows how long it will take to find the tier 3 mods for it, so I will just wind up equipping it with tier ones. I am patient though and those mods will drop for me or show up in a lock box.
