Favorite brewery?

I'm always on the lookout for a great brewery that I have yet to try. So with all of the options out there which brewery is your favorite....and none of this they are all so great nonsense. I'm talking about your go to...the one that you would have on a deserted island. Also which offering is your favorite that they brew? Personally mine is Sam Adams, my favorite is probably Octoberfest. You're up

My go to brewery is Victory brewing out by Philly in Reading, PA. I'm not sure how well known they are outside of this region, but I absolutely love many of their beers, especially the hop devil.

A very close second is Southern Tier.

I love Guinness. I would love to visit their brewery. Of the breweries I have visited, on of my favorites is Red Hook in Seattle. I like their IPA and ESB.

I would have to say Budweiser... I had a particular taste for Michelob in a former life. But, the biggest factor is the Troop support. Many freebies have come my way courtesy of Budweiser.. and no beer tastes better than a free one.

I also don't mind drinking SOL but I've gravitated to Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy this summer.

I agree about Sam Adams. It's definitely excellent, especially considering the scale on which it's brewed and distributed.

Hop Devil is a great beer.

Another great Brew Co is Short's.

Three Floyd's is one of my favorites as well.

Best brewery IMO is Bell's. Hopslam is incredible but unfortunately seasonal and hard to get even when it's in season. As far as year-round brews, their Two Hearted IPA and Three Floyd's Gumball Head are my favorites. Gumball Head for summery days (or Oberon) and Two Hearted for the colder weather or when I feel like something a bit heavier.

Other breweries worth mentioning IMO are Founders, Lagunitas, and Arcadia.

Sam Adams is at the top of my list with Noble Pils and Octoberfest.

Erdinger Weissbier 'dark' is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.

The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn't contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier 'with fine yeast'.

Like all Erdinger wheat beers, this dark variety also acquires its typical flavor from maturing in the bottle. Years of brewing experience coupled with state-of-the-art technology guarantee its excellent quality.

A real specialty for connoisseurs.

Not sure if any of you know what a Kilkenny is but it is one of my favorite beer.

There aren't to many places here in MD that have it but they def have them all over Europe.

Every time I went out, I always made sure I had a glass or two of this.

Its VERY rare to find here in the states.

The brewery just released it to the states but finding a local pub that has it is very rare

I've heard of Ommegang, but I have never had any of their beers. I'm normally not a fan of Belgians (one of the few styles I don't like), what would you recommend to start with them, I'm sure I can find some being so close to NY.

Belgians are where its at! In the world of beer and us beer snobs, Belgian beers are the mark of excellence! Duval owns Ommegang. I suggest you start with their Saissons! Unbelievable!

I second Kopfe's statement great hop region! That is a noble mission you have set yourself out on, I have only been to a few brewery's. YeungLing, Sam Adams, Budweiser (St. Louis), and Harpoon. I love visiting breweries, you get the full experience that way I think. I just picked up two of Stone's collaboration beers yesterday and I'm waiting to drink them. The R&R coconut IPA and the StoneFarkingWheaton W00tStout. Reviews will be coming for both :D

Beer street journal has the scoop on the next in Stone brewery's collaboration series....now we wait


Behold the next Stone Brewing Co Collaboration – Suede. For this release, Stone’s Mitch Steele teams up with Megan O’Leary Parisi of Bluejacket in D.C., and Tonya Cornell from 10 Barrel Brewing in Bend, OR. The cross country melding of brewers minds finds them creating an imperial porter with avocado honey, plus jasmine and calendula flowers from Stone Farms. The result? Suede is described by their creators as “soft and seductive” and an “all season wonder.”

A formal announce is to follow from Stone. Look for this new edition in the coming months.
