I started filming on a 48 Hour film competition on Friday at 7p. We drew our genre, holiday/vacation film. We were given our character, Olivia or Oscar Olmsted who is a landscape designer/engineer. We were given our prop, a coffee mug and we were given our line of dialog, "I hate to say I told you so." All of these things are required to be used in the film. You have 48 hours to write, film, edit and deliver a finished film. I have just under 5.5 hours left to deliver the finished film.

Now, I'm a pretty structured guy when it comes to my projects. I don't like to do things by the seat of my pants, so to speak. But, this time, I decided to try to just have fun and let it flow and go with it. But, I've had four hours sleep since Friday and by the middle of the day yesterday, my "let if flow and just have fun" attitude was wearing pretty thin. It might have had something to do with crew members being two hours late. Bicycle Rally riders closing down streets I needed to use to get where I was going, or maybe it was the location I couldn't use because the police had shut it down because it was now a crime scene. FML.

I did learn some lessons. Never again will I shoot a film utilizing a "team" approach. I am the director. I am the boss. Do what I say. Don't question me. Don't suggest ways it can be better. Don't fuck around on my set. Be where you're supposed to be when you're supposed to be there. Don't complain about how hot it is when you've been sitting in an air conditioned car between takes and I've been in the heat and on my feet the entire time. You whine, you're off my set.

Rant over. I am almost done with this film. This will be my one and only 48 Hour Film Project. If, I post here in the future that I am going to do one of these again, I want one of you to come here and physically assault me. Probably Jared, or someone else who is relatively close. :)

Lol I'll be sure to smack you in the face bro. That's nuts to take up such a big project though. You definitely need to post up the final project once you are done.

Damnit man, hate that you had the issues. Be sure to share a copy of the film with us.

So grats on finishing. Remember the lessons you've already learned, not just for this, but for any future project. And I promise, someone will happily beat the shit out of you for mentioning an interest in doing it again.

Congrats on finishing. That doesn't sound very fun to operate under that deadline.
