Anyone play with this yet?
I recently updated my home server to it, and we have started to deploy it in small numbers at work.

Thoughts from the community?


I personally like it, its quick, and the improvements in Powershell are really nice. Granted we haven't had it do any heavy lifting yet. Mainly just Term Server with Remote App stuff.

With me just IIS, running a FTP site and my super simple basic website at home.

I screwed around with it before I left the stan on my server farm... Was very nice and did a shitload more than server 2003... We were supposed to get 08r2 but it never showed before I left.. Don't mess with that stuff in my new job as of yet but did inform my it guy of my background and told him if help out when needed..

I'm still running 2003 at home, and the company is still predominantly on 2008R2, its in the works though, we tried it in the lab, and decided to hold off until 2012 R2 which is due out Nov. of this year.

We did much the same. We are a large provider or Citrix XenApp hosted applications, XenApp 7 is due out soon can only be hosted on 2012. We have it running in the lab, its really cool to see the new "Modern" apps being streamed.

hyper-v has also come a long way since the virtual server days, however they still lag behind vmware in terms of 3rd party support and hypervisor performance.

You should check out "Hyper-V Server2012"

Its a core install, that is dedicated to hosting VMs. Looks like they are following in the path of ESX. (and its free)

yeah, I saw it at last falls Microsoft convention here in Minneapolis.
