I'm wanting to read/buy some comics. So I was wondering if you guys could name some of your favorites and if possible post a pic of it for me to see.

I do ask as a favor to not turn this thread into a fanboy argument thread. Please I have enough arguing in my life I can't handle anymore.

I wish I could help you but I don't read comics other than comic strips I guess. You know like Foxtrot I think it is hilarious. Manga's are cool too. I like One piece, Fairy Tale, Kenichi Worlds strongest disciple and some others. if you want to check some of those out go to http://www.batoto.net/ and you can read them translated.

I am sorry I don't have anything from my former life except I have a distinct resemblance to my comic hero.
I have a feeling this is going to be like my taste in music and will be too dated for most (if not all) in the community.

I'm about halfway through the Walking Dead graphic novel series and it is really good. Other graphic novels I've enjoyed from Star Wars are Shadows of the Empire, and Death, Lies, and Treachery. From DC Flashpoint, and A Death in the Family.

Download the Marvel, DC, or Comixology app and peruse their "New to Comics" section. I know Marvel has it, not sure about the rest.

I usually buy a collected edition on the app....I.e. graphic novel, about once a month. I liked Spiderman until 700 and the switch to Superior, enjoy Iron Man, and a couple others. Occasionally I'll pick up one of the cross-collection story arcs....Civil War, Siege, World War Hulk, AvX.

Realistically, its no different than novels or movies. You have to find the ones that tickle your fancy. And definitely read some Deadpool. Shit is hilarious.

Just got told about the self contained Earth One series..1st one was about superman and 2nd one was about batman.. sounds interesting. all new retellings of origins and all......Also was told about SAGA.. idk im going to look in to this? sound like its a cross between game of thrones and star wars...sounds intriguing

Take a look at the Preacher series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. Great story and some very good art work. Here is the plot in a nutshell from wikipedia.



Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named Genesis in an incident which killed his entire congregation and flattened his church.

Genesis, the product of the unauthorized, unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon, is an infant with no sense of individual will. However, as it is composed of both pure goodness and pure evil, it might have enough power to rival that of God Himself. In other words, Jesse Custer, bonded to Genesis, may have become the most powerful being in the whole of living existence.

Custer, driven by a strong sense of right and wrong, goes on a journey across the United States attempting to (literally) find God, who abandoned Heaven the moment Genesis was born. He also begins to discover the truth about his new powers. They allow him, when he wills it, to command the obedience of those who hear and comprehend his words. I didn't realize they were making a movie of it. But my guess would be yes if they're going with this story. It would have to be made into maybe two or three movies though since there is a lot to cover.

I'll give you a brief rundown:
A Preacher who's lost his faith in God has the unfortunate luck of having the spirit of the offspring of an Angel & Demon inhabit his head, effectively granting him "The Word of God" (anything he says HAS to be done). Factor in his trigger happy girlfriend and an Irish Vampire they meet along the way and hilarious, fucked up chaotic adventures ensue.
