Fort Huachuca Bomb Threat

As some of you know and some of you don't I am stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ. I found out today at 1300 on my way back to work that the route I normally take was blocked off by many Police, Fireman, and Medical personnel. I had to take a alternate route to get to my office and when I arrive at my office and inquire as to what the blockade was about no one can answer my question. Finally at 1400 I find out that there has been a Bomb Threat at the shoppette on the corner a little further down the road from where the blockade. So I am a little ticked that it took them that long to inform people that there was a threat where one of the police dogs actually hit twice on a Bag. It is now 1622 and they have given the all clear with no injuries so that is good. But I think it is crazy that this happened on the same day as the Navy yard shooting.

That is Crap!!!! It should not take that long to notify people about that stuff especially military personnel. I am a civilian and from my stand point , I look to my military buddy's in those situations. They have had the training not me so for them to not notify at least the base about this situation is BS..... With all the threats on our military, the base personnel should be in the NO.......How do they expect you to help if your in the dark!!!!

Yeah man It was total horse shit. There are still some people that didn't even know about it this late in the evening. I understand that some may not have gotten the information but they really didn't put anything out until way later. I am pretty pissed at the reaction of the people on this post. During an exercise they will go out of their way to make our lives miserable but when something real happens they don't say shit they suck.

Right, that's what i am saying for sure they put you guys and gals thru all this extra training for Shit like this then for some reason PD always hides the info like they want all the glory of fixing it....Well what happens when they are not trained like some of the military that deal with those bombs everyday...then WHAT,,,sorry....OH YEA A LITTLE LATE FOR THAT.....TO MANY POLITICS IN STUFF LIKE THAT, IF U SEE A PROBLEM AND SOMEONE ELSE CAN HELP ASK, DAM GET THE INFO OUT TO EVERYONE THAT CAN HELP IN THE SITUATION.....Sorry, It just hits a nerve with all this crap...I just wish we could handle things a little different like the old west days.....Lets hope they learn from mistakes before anything bad happens, glad all your friends and family there are safe tonight.....Ray

yea I understand that is tough to handle and I'm sorry if I went about it in a wrongful manner but I used to be stationed out there when i was going through A.I.T and from my experience. There's nothing to do out there

I understand your point about family on the installation but feel you may be to close to the situation. Had they alerted the base..mass confusion. Too many trying to help, civilians and family fleeing the base , looky-loos getting in the way and the news media all complicate the matter. No bomb was found and you have to trust that had your family been in preventable danger, your brothers could handle it. However, you would think after it was settled would be a good time to call a (base,wing or squadron) commanders call to explain the situation and reinforce vigilance on home station.

I would think that if at any point personnel on a base were in any type of danger it would be the responsibility of those we in trust with our safety to inform us of the danger. Instead they left people to speculate about was going on causing more confusion. Maybe I am close to the situation however whether people leave the post in an emergency or stay in their homes should be a decision made by those people rather than not providing us with the information at all. It is easy to make a judgement when there was no danger to you or the ones you love. Thank goodness it turned out to not be a bomb.

If they did that for every unattended bag or suspicious activity it would be chaos. One of my former crew mates went EOD and was always responding to these. Sorry if I come off harsh but being around military bases all my life and having a few bomb scares at different installations has gotten me used to procedure and the logic behind it. I am glad you and your family are safe and no one was hurt.
