In an effort to help mitigate some of the cost of TA to the government it looks like they are looking into countless new ways to prevent people from utilizing TA. This is Air Force wise anyways, it's looking like you need to input all your Supervisor's data which is okay but I can't remember if they have to approve your TA on top of the education office as well. Plus if you have a failed PT test within that time frame you cannot get TA. Also when you are getting your TA approved it has to be for one of the classes that is listed in your educational goals which has to be all inputted into their database. So if you are going for a full-up Bachelor's degree you have to load all 120+ or - credits into that program and if you deviate from it you may not get your TA... definitely grateful we still have TA but it's looking like we are getting tighter and tighter with the leniency.

In the old days of paper forms you used to have to sign stating that your supervisor was aware that you were taking classes. You also needed to provide a copy of your degree plan. I have not been allowed to use TA for a while do I don't know how it changed, but the PT failure is total bullshit

I don't know, I can't see a pt pass requirement being a negative for a military benefit program.

Me either. I mean, you've got to pass it anyway. It's just a punishment if you don't do your duty.

Now if it applies to not being able to pass because of injury, that's B.S., but I highly doubt it does.

There are changes coming to the TA program starting 1 October. I will look for a link. I know published for the USMC, an ALMAR (All Marine bulletin)... TA will not be available until after 2 years of service. The thinking is to ensure the Marine learns his/her MOS prior to taking on additional studies.
As I said, (and I am sure there are plenty of informational resources) I will look for a good link to read on the changes.

WOW, it almost sounds like they are banking on people making some mistakes so they will not have to "HELP OUT" as many people as they used to........That is what they call " Back Door Budget Cuts "....That way they do not spend as much in that Department, but they can say, well we did not cut that program, people just are not qualifying like before.... Yea sure they aren't.....IMHO
