View Full Version : Games you miss

I'm working the graveyard shift all weekend, so I'm posting some random thoughts killing time.
I posted a reply earlier to a thread and remarked that my youngest brother is 18 years younger than me, he was born when I was a senior in HS. The one thing that me and the little prick could could connect with was video games. I remember him and I sitting in my room all night playing games till the wee hours of the morning, just having a blast. That got me thinking about some of the games I miss and would love if they got an upgrade to the next gens. I'm not sure if anyone remembers a game called Time Splitters, a FPS last I know released for the original Xbox. We used to have a blast playing that game.
Anybody else have any faves you wish would get redesigned or upgraded to next gen just so you could play it again?

If I could have one dream as a gamer it would be to play Final Fantasy 7 again for the first time.

No doubt. I loved FFX too.

I think Skyrim would be great. It was/is so glitch in its current state, maybe correctable on the new consoles.
I also like Red Dead Redemption the Multi-player and free roam modes are great. I actually played with some of the developers one night. The game is hilarious, with the interactions between live players and game generated types.

I enjoyed CoD 4 back when it was actually popular. Put so much time into that on PC.

I miss Battle for Middle Earth, specifically the Rise of the Witch-King. The disc got stolen when my laptop was stolen, and I never got around to getting another one.

I remember my first multiplayer on PC was over a modem with a friend of mine from school. I can't remember the name of the game but it was a RTS with Orcs, and People. I would love to play FFVII updated. Have it on my PS3 hard drive from the store but don't have the time to dedicate to it. And I became an addict once I played goldeneye for the first time. I guess I just miss the simpler times when I could game all day and no one to nag me about it.

For me, Killzone 2 is at the top of the list. You could fully customize the matches as the host. Say you didn't like snipers for example. No problem. You could exclude that class from being playable. Hate ticket whores? Simply eliminate rockets from the weapons selections.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the Killzone forums were the place I was recruited to join USMG from. I was the second person to sign up (Aaron503 was just ahead of me).

I would also say Red Dead Redemption. The free roam was absolutely something to behold. The story was fantastic, and the characters were memorable.

Ya know, I remember EA Sports hockey for the Sega Genesis. I used to play that game and loved it. The personal stats all mattered, and the stars of each team played like stars. The game actually felt realistic to me, but maybe that's just my rose colored glasses. I do remember in that game, that I hit Gretzky with a check using a tough guy from the Blackhawks. If anyone remembers, if you injured a guy he would lay on the ice and bleed if he had a head wound. I laid Gretzky out for the season with that hit and thought it was awesome. I can't play the newer hockey and football games out today, too many sliders and settings. I think games were better in some aspects when they're just kept simple. Maybe that's just me.

Contra, Battletoads, and TMNT.

Revamp and give FF1 an FF7 or 10-worthy storyline. Or FF 7 or 10.

Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye.

Just a couple of the games I sacrificed my youth to.

I loved that game, but I also have a lot of love for the current iterations of NHL. Great games and they do a pretty good job of capturing the physics.

I remember Atari, but really started to cut my teeth on the Intellivision console. Primitive by today's standards, but I fell in love with the D&D game they came out with. My buddy had the ColecoVision, and we'd switch up game time between his house and mine growing up.

Ya'll are going way back. Allow me to go further. Intellivision. B-17 Bomber. Great game. My wife's parents had it and I played whenever I went over there, which was often. :) More recently, Half-Life and Counter Strike. Counter Strike was probably the first multiplayer shooter I ever played.

I was given a calecovision (I have no clue how to spell it) from my older cousins. It even had the Atari adapter that plugged into it. I would live to play those games again. Like Flash Gorden on cassette tape(not even a disk or cartridge)
