In a historic move, Senate Democrats have "gone nuclear" and pushed a ruling that changes the 2/3 majority requirement for presidential nominations to a simple majority vote.

Ironically, it was only 8 years ago when Senators Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Ed Reed all stated that using the nuclear option was unconstitutional, and a direct threat to the democratic process.

I have been taking a lot of political science classes, and I can't even watch the news or read about politics anymore because it is like Mike said; it's either a smokescreen for something that we won't know about until it is to late, or it is party politics and media bias bullshit as usual.... We need to fire our government, end citizens United and reform the campaign finance laws that facilitate the corporatization of the government by allowing unregulated campaign contributions on the basis that they are the same as people and keeps politicians firmly in corporate pockets. Someone said the majority of the population is ignorant, or apathetic. I don't agree with this, the majority; so called the "silent majority" are people just like us who are well aware of the situation but are unable to organize and narrow down what they want changed because of mis directions from the govt., media, and the massive amount of class confusion going on that leads to people voting to perpetuate a system that is against their best interests and only benefits the top 1% of this country who send their money to overseas banks. This is perpetuated by our increasingly poor public education system and the increasingly bleak state of our economy.

The general masses you and I speak to are educated individuals, especially individuals able to navigate the internet, and form complete, coherent sentences. Sadly, this is NOT the majority. I know it is the majority you surround yourself with, and what you probably come into contact with, but get outside of your normal area of contact, and you will find the "uneducated masses". It is sad, but they are out there.

I can understand that, the ignorance is definitely there, but we need to look at the root of the ignorance. These people aren't stupid (not most of them) they are product of our media/educational system and the people like us (not anyone here individually but in general) that identify ourselves as different, or better than them are facilitating the ignorance( aka class confusion) . Without the opportunities and experiences people like us have had, we would probably be under a similar shroud of ignorance. We need to stop blaming the people uniformly without any other justification and start blaming the causes and the institutions / organizations responsible. Like anything there are obvious exceptions to this, but I am sure everyone here can agree that the class vs. class and even race vs. Race infighting needs to stop so we as a people can talk amongst each other freely, share certain intangible resources (I. E. Education) and organize against those that are taking advantage of all of us.

Unmotivated and tried my hardest a few years ago to yield no outcome? Been there, done that. In the end, we have words and ways, but they have proven fruitless. Politicians wield absolute power and the common man is "out" of it. It sucks. We scream on mountain tops, but nothing changes. And yes, we do act like we speak different languages to one another. The "other" side to our own political views are just too stupid to see our side, which is exactly where politicians want us.

I am not sure what you are saying about a 'smokescreen' will just never happen?
There are many reasons for the method to the madness in the article posted by jxspyder. I have a theory but, it may be more paranoia, than a theory. ... But it is plausible.

I meant that because of the smokescreen, it will just never happen. They have us fighting over one thing, arguing, while they push the agenda they wanted through without anyone realizing. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
At this point, any theory not going along with the flow of things is considered "insane" and "paranoia". I couldn't agree more. I'm pretty sure I am on some watch lists already. :loco:
