Hey troops,
My son of 8 going on 9 in Januray is busting my balls for me to get him this for the Xbox one, how bad is it (violence and graphics)?

Its all killing but its not that graphic. I actually prefer the open sea battles better. I'd let a 9 y/o play it.

Yeah, after Ryse the killing graphics seem pretty tame. The seabattles are epic, but there's s fair bit of swearing.

It depends Toby. It is kind of an elevated type of game. Not saying your kid wouldn't enjoy it but it is based on a damn Pirate! Lol... It just depends man, if I were you I would watch some gameplay footage and make the call yourself. In my house I would say no just for the mere fact my wife can sometimes be a facists... lol

But on a serious note in my mind it isn't bad I mean playing AC4 is like having ur kid watch pirates of the Caribbean with foul language plus a tad bit tougher than the previous ones

My son can't even understand the dialog because of the accents.

Yeah it a very authentic style of game. Much of the slang takes a second take.

I just finished this tonight. I have to admit, this is one of my favorite games ever.

I agree with Jared. It is an opinion thing. I play it, but I would not let my 9 year old play it if I had one at home...but that is up to You as his Dad Bro.... I am just way over board on that stuff in games with minors...... But by far it is an excellent game, it is the best Assassins Creed ever made... IMHO

It feels like the natural progression of 3's minigame, which was the greatest AC minigame ever.

This one is definitely better than 3, the story is believable it coincides with actual history where 3 was just a bad execution on a good concept.

They don't show anything but you press circle next to certain chicks in your house, the screen changes and they're racked out in your bed.

So just finished up.....100% single player.....and yeah.

Pretty fucking awesome.

Maybe I'm still on a major high from SOA's season finale, but I rather liked the ending of this one. Was good character progression, great story, and an interesting couple of twists. Far better protagonist than Connor, for sure.

I hope 5 has us back as a full Assassin mentor......or at least becoming one again. Not sure this roundabout becoming an Assassin, as fun and solid as it was, is something I'd necessarily want to repeat.

I'm about 25% or so in. What's the best thing to upgrade my ship and get the materials for it? I'm sick of getting pooped on lol

The front of the boat the ram is the best. If you hit them first you dont have to shoot them as much.

I'd go with mortar. Steele Rain.

In case no one has heard, Freedom Cry is becoming a standalone game this month. I don't think its any different then the DLC, you just don't need AC4 to play it. Its going to be $15.

Its a great game. It was the first AC game I ever played. Since I beat it, I've played every other AC game except AC3 which is coming from GameFly this week.

Hull armor, mortars, broadside cannons, heavy shot, swivels. There is no one thing that makes you kick ass. Mortars as you close, then alternate broadside/heavy if they're close and swivels to clean up.

Aside from the little ships, the ram is worthless, even after the charge. Not only are you walking in to their barrage, but unless you sink it, you bounce back and are a sitting duck. Mobility is king, do circles around the enemy, broadside and swivel.

Yeah, I heard that....kinda blah. The only story DLC from 4, and its standalone. Oh well, at least 5 is coming out later this year.

Word.

Is there any easier methods to gain the raw materials to upgrade the ship? I.e. the cloth and shit like that

jgreco138
02-06-2014, 08:57
Warehouses and pillaging ships. The easiest is probably ships. If you want to make a shit ton of money fast, use the companion app and play the mini game while you're at work. All you have to do is check on it in game and you get all the cash.

Not really. If you sink ships instead of boarding them, you get half the materials in a lootable floating cargo box. But you get 2x the wanted level. Find one of the edge zones that always has ships incoming and just continue.

Or, you can salvage them to your fleet, stock up on the gems, and cap out that way. With that, you can link up to a pad/phone, and knock it out once a day for some good reale gain.

Also, warehouses.

Yeah, I've heard a couple times they're going to Russia, but who knows.

I've got a feeling the ship game will be replaced, though, with something new.
