Yeah man there is not a cross compatible ability on the platforms the only thing you can do is send text messages between the two systems

Totally contradicts what they said during E3 and the reveal... said you would be able to add the formatting of xbox live would remain the same when it come to game playing. Kinda pissed about it.

I never heard anything about cross-console play. Just that friends lists and live accounts would be the same across consoles.

Ya I know for sure that it was said in one of the xbox promos during the revels they had shown live on the 360.

It was clan and some of those features were revealed to be able to utilize data cross platform. Never that you would be able to play games. I wish it was possible but for games like BF that are more players in match than 360 is capable of makes it a problem.

Basically this. All the cross-platform stuff is back-end, stats and messaging stuff. No actual gameplay.

I think this is the stupidest thing ever.

They need to have it where it cross compatible.

Not everyone can purchase the new console or can even get the new console right now.

But its all about the money and I can see why they did it that way

There are some programmatical difficulties for cross-platform gameplay because of the difference in architecture and capabilities (e.g. player count). It would be possible, but would probably take extra work.

The X1 is more like a computer than a console which makes it difficult to share stuff.

Honestly, much like backward compatibility, I simply don't understand how this is considered a requirement, or even considered a necessity at this point.

I see backwards compatibility as much more of a requirement than this. One reason I moved to PC.

PC's are always going to be backward compatible. Or they can come out with REALLY cheap versions of old games. But no one cried when they couldn't play SNES games on the N64. At least i didn't. It was all about the next thing. That's consoles. Even today, I'm not upset I can't play 360 games on the 1. It would be nice to be able to party chat with guys on the 360, but I understand that the 1 is a completely different beast. Just because the games are still disc based doesn't mean any of the internal architecture is the same. I'm glad. The 1 is leaps and bounds better than the 360. It can't compete with a true gaming PC, but for $500, it is pretty amazing. I plan on keeping one of my 2 remaining 360s cause sometimes you have to play halo from start to finish, but I don't think i will be playing it much. I guess I dont understand why backwards compatibility is an issue. It's like buying a different brand smart phone and complaining you have to buy new apps.

EDIT: Wouldn't you want to play games that were made for the current gen system anyway? Why buy a new box and put in Kameo, or Madden 08?

Who would want to play FF7, Mass Effect or MGS without having to plug in an old console? I understand the tech limitations and I'm not upset but there are valid reasons some like backwards comparability .

Id play all the oldies. It would be nice for Backwards Compatibility but its not a necessity for me as it once was. Honestly I think the PS2 spoiled our generation too much. Great games and you could roll PS1 games all day.

I would estimate that 50-75% of PC games are constantly being tampered with in someway. Much easier to exploit PC than Console IMO.

All have their added benefits but I prefer my console all day.

The X1 is more like a computer than a console which makes it difficult to share stuff.

That about sums it up... It would be just like trying to make PC and XBOX run together. The XB1 is so much more then a console that it would be nearly impossible to make it run smooth.... It is all windows base... The whole home screen is the same as my lap top now... You have to look at it like a whole new console. U can't even think of it as an XBOX anymore. They have two companies XBOX 360 and XB1... They will sell stuff for both, just like having a Wii and PS3 they are different!!! If u look at it Microsoft is the last to do it cause Wii went first then PS3 now XBOX 360 we should feel lucky that ours lasted as one entity for so long..... Ok I will get off my soap box, sorry about the speech... ; )
