DICE halts development of all future projects as it shifts focus to Battlefield 4 issues
Written by Emanuel Maiberg

Publisher Electronic Arts announced that DICE is halting development of all future projects and expansions until it sorts out issues currently affecting the PC and console versions of Battlefield 4.

"We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game,” an EA spokesperson told PC Gamer in a statement. “It is absolutely our #1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game." The spokesperson also asserted a commitment to fix player issues. "We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain. We will not stop until this is right.”

EA did not say how the decision will affect the development of projects we know it is working on, such as the sequels to Mirror’s Edge and Star Wars Battlefront, but it has also yet to announce release dates for those games.

EA also said that the only reason it released the China Rising DLC yesterday was because it was “already in the final stages of development,” before the publisher decided to refocus DICE's efforts on Battlefield 4’s existing technical issues.

As we reported yesterday, many players were unable to join China Rising matches after the DLC hit yesterday. “This fix will take some time to be fully completed, but players should be noticing normal gameplay behavior soon,” DICE said on Electronic Arts’ official site yesterday. China Rising was also released alongside a patch that was supposed to improve connectivity and stability, but clearly DICE is not satisfied with the results.

I have always loved the BF series. There is no doubt this rush to get an unfinished product out was due to the new COD and next gen consoles. No doubt this let down is part of the reason EA stock prices have dropped around $4 a share over the last month.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the game, I hate that the game was released as an unfinished project. Hell the beta was more stable for me. I feel the released version is what we should have been playing as an Alpha release

I hate the game. Its unfinished. Comparing BF3 to BF4 is like a Picasso to some shit someone tried to try on a napkin. Just my opinion though. I hate CoD but at the moment its not unplayable... BF is unplayable for me until they do a massive overhaul.

Sounds like the 'Affordable Health Care Act' website... They had a couple of years to get this thing ready and tested, but when the dollar signs hit the eyes before the Holiday rush, this is the crap we get.

I remember having issues with BF3, some hangups going in game and what seems to be an issue on many PS releases, broken VoIP. I HATE that I bought premium. I feel that Dice/EA should do some type of compensation. No, none of this BS double XP on a broken game. I would much rather earn the ranks and unlocks. I would not be upset if they reset my stays and gave me a finished game to play.

I am glad that development is stopping on other releases to make sure this title is fixed.

I would actually call for a boycott of the game until they fix the netcode and stability on all platforms. Maybe this rant should be made available to the public. How many followers do you think a Boycott EA for Pushing an Alpha release as a final release Facebook page would get?
