View Full Version : [HARDWARE] New House = New wire closet!!

I am quite proud of how this turned out. Green cables go two my drops in the basement/office. Purple goes up to living room. I will have 4 more drops terminated this weekend for the rest of the house.

The switch is a 48port Netgear gigabit switch. I know its overkill, but it was free. It's managed, and has POE if I ever want to put in WAPs that use it, or setup VLANs its there.

Thanks guys, I will be building out the rest of my desk in the office this weekend, and will post pics.

This is the only thing I've got on the wall so far.

Yes it is, it is the Executor Class, Super Star Destroyer (Vader's Flagship). Made out of Lego's!
Got it as a Christmas gift last year from my parents. They know me so well.:D

Fell off the back of a truck......

Lol seriously, several ago when I was a field guy. We pulled a bunch of them out to be replaced with some cisco catalyst switches. The client was just going to trash them, so we each took one home.
Its just been sitting in a closet waiting until the day I bought a house, and could build out my network the way I wanted.

Got the desk put together finally. Sheet of MDF cut in half, so its two feet deep. Then using my buddies router, rounded the outside edges. Then mounted to the wall.

Nice .. now im living solo i just moved my huge ass desk in to the dinning room in the apt.. ill have to finish setting up my stuff and take some pics..KVM switch is nice!!mine got swiped when i left afghan.. that and my two extra monitors never made it to me via post office...sad face

Really sorry to hear that man, unfortunately its not exactly uncommon for things to walk away over there, and things to get "lost" in the mail on the way back home.

but my is cherrywood stain takes up over half my dinning room but since i dont use my dinning room no biggy.

lol thats about what my dinning room looks like..with alot more packing boxes and my tool boxes..lol
freaking desk is so big it sticks out in to the walk path to the kitchen about 6 inchs.. if your not paying attention it will slam you in the hip..

Here is whats on the other side of the wall.

Its only about 50% complete, as I unpack it will get cleaned up and the other stuff put on the wall. YES I KNOW the spurs are uneven, and the coins are starting to fall in the shadowbox.
The whole thing is just a mess, and driving my mild OCD crazy.
