I stumbled across an interesting website when looking for comparisons of existing weapons in BF4. It's called Symthic Game Science (http://forum.symthic.com/) and they break down weapons and loadouts for a bunch of games, along with some great in-depth discussions on the matter, so as to add the practical implications and details of real in-game use. They've got some good tools buried in there like this hitrate simulator (http://forum.symthic.com/battlefield-3/battlefield-3-technical-discussion/4657-hitrate-simulator/).

Anyway, I figured those of you who like to see quantitative values describing what happens when you pull the trigger at X range, etc. could make use of a site like this. Things like breaking down the specifics each weapon and looking at the effects each attachment has can be useful for those who care to look at it that in-depth. I generally prefer the "plug and chug" methodology myself, as everyone will have subjective differences in how they perceive the good/bad of a weapon, but when choosing between compensator and muzzle brake, stubby grip and ergo grip, which weapons need help horizontally and which vertically, etc... Some useful stuff there.

This thread is kosher to post here right? It's not a gaming clan AFAIK.

Very nice, I create interactive spreadsheets for EVE to pull information and make cost analysis, I do it for a living using API's for my school district with Pearson and other education software vendors, there is so much that you can pull and calculate, I love when gamers do it. I need a panic factor, I always knife when I apply a little pressure to the the thumbstick turning to kill a guy.

That is a great side. They also do the stats for COD games as well or did at one point. There is also a plugin for battlelog, http://getbblog.com/en/ that uses this data.
