The “Duck Dynasty” cast is bringing spreading the cheer this holiday season.
According to a post on Chairman of the JSC Gen. Martin Dempsey’s Facebook page, Willie and Jep Robertson headed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, to perform for Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and DOD civilians on Monday.
The Robertsons took the stage along with Gen. Dempsey, who sported a faux beard, to sing tracks from their Christmas album, including “Have a Very Hairy Christmas.”

That's great!. I always tried to thank those (performers, actors, musicians, fighters, etc.) that took time out to visit the soldiers "down range." We had a group of Minnesota Cheerleaders visit the FOB in Afghan. We mention to one of them that we were from Pennsylvania. She replied "is that anywhere in Pittsburgh?" :doh:

any one that goes on a USO tour ... doesn't get paid.. the fact that the decided during Christmas to go to a ACTIVE WAR ZONE.. is what is cool.. ive gone to a lot of events that USO sponsor over there where i like the person or not cause THEY CAME THERE!!..

It's hick/christian reality tv. Think Kardashians, only with skills beyond looking like a slut.

Damage control goes out the window when you release a statement fully supporting Phil, and then tell the network if they suspend him, the whole show walks.

Given their general audience, I don't think damage control is anywhere on the playing field at the moment. And their public opinion really hasn't taken a huge hit.

Kinda. The USO thing happened before Phil hit it big with the media. But its not like it was anything he hadn't said before, nor anything you wouldn't expect to hear from him. I mean, when you ask a guy who's pro-bible what he considers sin......

I don't watch the show, but from what I heard of Phil, he was kind of a hippy/druggie when he was younger.

This is not a reality show. The cast themselves have admitted to "certain" parts of the show being staged. Everything about the show is fake. There's not just four guys making thousands of duck calls, they have over 60 employees just in the the main warehouse. They also don't live in the tiny house they feature on the show. They have a much bigger one on the property.
For someone who tries to stay true to his beliefs, that's a lot of lying. And I just don't have any respect for a "family man" who exploits his grand kids to make money. They already have money, what's the point of doing a show? I'm fine with them canceling it.

What Crazy said. All reality shows are staged to some degree. And only the parts the producers want you to see in any 'reality' show are aired. I don't know why you would see any difference here.

And I wouldn't consider that lying, considering it's for "artistic license". Granted, not all things are okay just because it's on a show, but portraying yourself differently for a show is not incompatible with his belief system. If you say that, you're basically saying that all acting is lying. Which in a sense it is, but it's obvious to anyone who thinks about it.

I don't watch the show, and I don't care if they cancel it or not. Phil was well within his rights to say what he did, and he said it honestly. A&E, also, was well within their rights to suspend him. Contrary to what most people think, the First Amendment does not apply to private enterprise. Now I think A&E shot themselves in the foot, considering the popularity of the show, and now that they've caved, it makes them look bad all around, but whatever. Life goes on, with or without another reality TV show.
