It is safe to say we’ve been here before. Back when DLC was a new acronym, map packs were free and BC2 had cemented itself as our favorite free-time-waster.


The game was broken then too. Slugs were OP, the SV98 was the bane of many and it was Heavy Metal or bust. Then came BF3, where you would fall through the map and get sucked into the pit of despair on Operation Metro, get killed by rookies running the latest IR scope on Damavand Peak and lose your shit as your teammate pointed his 16 billion candle-power tac-light at your retinas.


Has anything changed?


For almost three years I’ve been plugged in, helping create the “pulse” of the Battlefield community, watching validated, and sometimes overblown, anger slowly take over a once positive and inclusive community destined for greatness.


Painstakingly-crafted montages of amazing gameplay have been replaced by glitch and “troll” videos. Clans have disbanded and moved on to other games. Tips and Tricks have been replaced with overwhelming “sighs”. Community-driven Battlefield sites have closed up shop. And all of this is happening in what is arguably the second-biggest FPS on the planet.


So what are we to do? Do we “blackout” again, as folks begin to do that on their own? Can we rally the Community Managers, even though they aren’t given the tools to manage the community? Do we just go dark? Do we just give up?


2014 is on the immediate horizon. Isn’t it time we stop hoping for games to be finished at launch and start requiring it? When do we stop apologizing for others actions and start making waves with our wallets? Are we so afraid we’ll miss out on a day one DLC or the newest dog tag that we give EA access to our cash any time they ask for it?


I don’t know what the solution is yet, and I don’t know if I ever will but I do know I’m not having fun in a game that takes so much and gives so little. Until I can play a round without a bug causing me grief, I won’t be playing. I would rather spend that energy on something else during my free-time.


With that said, I want you to keep playing because I hope there are individuals in the community with the mental fortitude to tough it out. Hell, I want to keep playing, but I can’t right now for multiple reasons, and in the end it breaks my heart. I’ve given a lot to this community — helped others build it up from almost nothing — and I’m sick of seeing it rise up and slowly wither away time and time again.

I still will keep playing it even if at times it induces involuntary "Tourettes" and will keep my Premium active, but it does seem as if we are not getting what we paid for.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but wasn't BF3 on PC also really bad at this point in release? Maybe not this bad, but bad enough that I'm a bit surprised at how crazy people are getting this time around.... Yeah BF4 is worse, but to hear the way some people talk about it, it's like they're surprised there are so many bugs this time too. I didn't have it for PS3 so I'm not sure how the launch went for that. I didn't have BC2 at launch (at least I don't think I did) so I don't know how launch went for that.... But BF3 on PC was near unplayable for a while with all the crashing, bugs, glitches, etc....

It was pretty bad, yeah. But I'm not giving up yet!

Yeah, its an alright game, but not being able to group up before entering a game is ridiculous. I am still experiencing technical issues with games and conquest is still shitty and laggy. The spawn system is mess up between spawning in front of enemies and I have also experiencing spawning right next to the enemy at the start of the match. The maps could b e way better. Especially with a lot of the tops of building being unreachable due to only having one access point. The skill system is worthless, you can only really go up in skill on domination it seems. I think the commander option is stupid and worthless. I don't know if this will be a game that I will continue to play once there is a better multi-player option for me. I can understand some bugs, its apart of gaming these days but after a few weeks, I would expect to see a huge improvement.

This game didn't really improve much from BF3 to BF4. I stopped playing CoD because of the stagnation of features and mediocrity of it. I have a feeling that Battlefield will go the same way.

I quit playing BF4. I am short on patience when it comes to laying down some money on a game that isn't what it was advertised to be.
But, my comparison with BF3 isn't a real good measure. I started playing BF3 just last July (probably after the problems were patched).


I am still hoping to get our own USMG server next year, that way we have some control on those that exploit the game play. It seemed to work with BF3. There was a resurgence of interest at least among our members. I should return then to be someone's boost for their K/D.

I guess the bugs and lag and stuff don't bother me more than usual, but the lack of platoon support and the non-existent squad/party system are inexcusable IMO. Bugs will happen, hiccups will happen, but when you intentionally release a game without what may be the most necessary basic mechanics for people to properly enjoy it.... I just don't know how that happens. Someone signed off on this, probably multiple someones..... Why???

after a couple weeks not playing, i went back last night. some things fixed but can someone find me ammo that works, some rounds you cant hurt someone the next round your a bad ass, I consistently do ok in a bug free game, but I unloaded a whole mag from rifle and pistol guy turns around and snipes me no scope, next round we trade situations. I bought this game twice and basically have written it as a loss

Even though bf3 had its problems i was able to rally some troops we would squad up discuss tacticrs amd as a squad join a game that apperently the enemy was kicking ass. We would join and just wreck shop leading to a victory. I was never a top of the leaderboard kindda player. Usually in the middle of the pack, but with the help of some friends we could play, through the hardships that were buggs amd glitches.
Fast foward to 2013. All the rage, all the hype for bf4. I couldnt wait to gather my troops hit the battlefield and dominate. Well quickly i found out that "gathering troops" was a thing of the past. Now its mash in the A button hopeing to join a friend or 2. Join a game on the opposite team, and wait. End a round leave a server and figure a way to join my friends. Minutes past as we look for servers that can handle our squad. If we are able to all join a server together the bugs and glitches that plegue this game is unbareable. It has gotten to the point were i say fuck it. Fuck trying to join friends fuck trying to have fun. I dont play cq or rush anymore becaus emy game play style just leads to more frustration. So i play dom solo.
Is that what this game has come too? Solo, lonewolf game style? Think about it. Assignment are ment to be completed by your self. Gone are the days where perks where applied to a squad not an individual. Gone are the VOIP for teamchat. Gone are the days of joing games as a squad. There are no moments where squad based, team based gameplay are evident. Bf4 has been built to cater to the solo lonewolf player.
So for me the actual gameplay has gone away from what i expected from bf, and has appealed to the quick twitch cqb tactics that is cod. Bf has gone away from what it was best known for and has made a game that tried to be cod.
I think the state of bf is dead. They put a game out that wasnt ready. They put dlc out that arent ready. They took away what we as a communtiy loved about bf and added game michanics that dont belong. There is no comming back. They robbed the community and ea will continue to buy up small game companies and force to put product on the market that is trash and not give 2 shits abou tthe consumer.

Granted, I haven't had time for any of them lately, but when I do get some free time again, I feel like it's going to be difficult to get back into the game, especially when no one else is on or they aren't easily joinable.

You're right man, they seem to have gone full retard on the lone wolf concept in this game. It's really weird that they would do that because they're pretty much throwing away the identity of the franchise.

You guys could always get ArmA III instead! Or ArmA II and ACE!

I got it for 2 systems and both premium. Waste of money, I curse and the knife shit gets annoying. its seems more sensitive in bf4, or I mash it harder lol

There's less knifing from what I can tell and more sniping and speaking of which some times I think some of the players are snipe hunting with bags, but I prob won't bother getting premium at this time due the lack of funds and also the game issues but message me on psn if you guys want to play on ps4

I agree the knife does seem sensitive it may be the new controller, and I do agree they did focus on the lone wolf aspect of it. Why would they not have conquest assault in there. Why did they not launch lobby queue with the game, and I still don't understand why they took the pregame squad away for a system that is flawed. I know dice is working to fix it and was probably pushed to get the game out by ea but come one guys fight back for your loyal customers to put out a working product.

your right, its nothing like how BF3 was i honestly wish i still had my copy of BF3 i would go back to playing it in a heartbeat. but for the sake of progress ill keep playing BF4. on the 360 version the knifing isnt so bad, but on the XBONE version it seems less utilized. when did you switch over to the PS side of the house? GRRRRRR betraying the XBOX side of the house bro…. haha just playing.

I bought the game when it first came out and thought I would practice solo so I would not embarrass myself or my clan mates when I got up my nerve to play with them. Freeze, reset...over and over. I put the game down for a couple of week to give it time for bugs to be worked out. I tried again a couple of days ago. The "big freeze" hit again. So solo is not working so well for me on a 360...I am not going to go buy to XBONE version as previously planned. At least not until I read on these forums that things are better. I will continue to try now and again on the 360.

i havent had any problems so far with the xbox one version. it seemed like everytime i played the 360 version i would freeze out and what not but not with the one version i like it much better and even better with the 64 player maps.
