This is truly sad......take in 150million give out 5million. Carl Sagan once said if you want to get rich start a religion. He started scientology. I guess you can add charity to that.

In the first excerpt, the dude says he's 146% disabled....
I didn't think that was possible. The way the scale was explained to me, you can be maximum 100% and that is only if you have a disability that hits the 100% mark itself. With multiple disabilities, you start with the biggest number, and then each successive disability is taken from what remains of the original 100%....
I wonder what the real truth is, this seems like a slanted view even if elements of it are true.

This is a two part article. It also shows a bit of the other major charity shortcomings. I posted this in the Veterans Info thread on 31 December and 2 Jan.

You are correct.
There are plenty of disability calculators out there for those that don't understand.

Mike, you have access to all reviewing charities and the IRS etc.? I don't want to be a negative Nancy but I was wondering if we could look into Extra Life as well. Just for information purposes.

Is it good to go? I just want to make sure the people I ask donations for aren't getting screwed.

Hopefully you can read this... just a sampling.... They, like other national charities are ranked high... why? I don't know. Look at the compensation page on this 990. But, don't be to judgmental from the document.
I hope I am not raining on the parade...

Nice graphics and beautiful PIE chart here.... but look again at the 990 for the details.
Extra Life falls under the Children's Miracle Network, if any were wondering.

From your PDF:

This is from Extra Life:
How is the money collected? Where does it go?
Credit card donations may be made on a participant's fundraising page. Cash and check donations will be collected by participants and submitted to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. All funds will be disbursed directly to the hospital selected during registration.
Also on their FB page, in some conversations that EL has commented on, they said the hospitals get a monthly check for the donations received for the month. This tags onto another comment they made on team donations. People are pushing to an option to donate to a team, rather than just a member of the team. They said this created a problem because for example, if the team got a $50 donation, they would have to break that up among all the hospitals registered by the members. They said their working on a solution though.
Oh, and I was chatting with an EL support member recently and got this:
100% goes to the hospital you choose, the only thing that is taken out is a small fee for credit card processing. I think it's less than 2.5% but don't know the exact percentage, it's rather small though.
