I felt my new Xbox1 was entitled to a new set of headphones. I bought Turtle Beach X42. Got 'em home and the connector will not work with the XBOX1 controller. So, I took them back to Best Buy where they informed me, after they conferred with the Microsoft guy onsite, that an adapter was being developed by Turtle Beach so that some of the Turtles will work with XBOX1. (A lot of you may be rolling your eyes at my ignorance) Anyway, for those of you who might be interested...the procedure is to take a pic of your receipt, they will send you a code via email, and you then send the UPC code to Turtle beach. Once the adapter is available, they supposedly will ship it to you. I was told that otherwise I might have to wait a year for specific XBOX1 headphones.

Yes and no. There are going to be XB1 specific headsets that release on Valentines Day

There are adapters in work yes, and a few people already have them actually but only for certain model headsets. eBay may be a viable place to look.

A year though isn't the case no worries! :)

My thoughts? I would return your TBs and just use the money next month. I know the rinky dink headset sucks but it's only another 30 or so days!

Whoever was at Best Buy lied their ass off to you. There's no way someone from MS told them next year sometime when February has been in the works since they announced the new connector and a partnership with TB.

Astro hasn't said a peep about Xbox one headsets yet, not even at CES. If anything they might put out an adaptor, but I'm just guessing. I'm using my A40's now but I had to buy an adaptor that someone made and sold on eBay. It works fine but I'm probably still going to get the Turtle Beach Sevens when they come out. If I like them better I'll give the A40's to my son.

Yeah, I agree Dave. From what I've read the TB Sevens will be fine tuned for Xbox One sound and the chat function is supposed to be better. We will see!! I've used both headsets and for me I can pinpoint footsteps better with Turtle Beaches. Game sound in my Astros sometimes drowns out footsteps and it pisses me off. Lol!!

I didn't know they even made headsets for gaming, a buddy if mine was telling me about them . Just figured it's another option, personally I think TB headsets are awful and always crap out on me...always good to have choices

I'm definitely going with the Polk. This is the first time they've made headsets that could be used for gaming and apparently worked closely with Microsoft in developing them especially for the XBox One.

Thanks for the info guys and your opinions. I will check out the Polk and the price but will at least get the Turtle 7's.

(I am also going to have word with a certain young man at Best Buy, and possibly the Microsoft guy too.)

Idk I had a TB wireless headset that I used and got maybe a year's use out of before the mic connection continuously crackled and it have the most god-awful squawking over the chat like at the worst possible moment. Definitely wasn't worth the 200 I paid for it

The key to TB's is to buy the cheaper ones. I got the X42's for 69.99$ they have survived to this date. Granted I don't use them anymore but they still work. And that's WITH a rambunctious 2 year old lol.

does anyone know if Triton will release a pair of headphones, for some reason they've always work better for me than Turtle Beach. Then again the lady at Gamestop told me that Titan fall was going to release their own headsets. Whether that's true or not depends I guess what Gamestop person you talk to.

In using the polk 4shots, great sound, the came out with an add on mic for them though because something happened when Microsoft released the stereo adapter. The built in works great on every other device...weird. I love them though, comfortable and great sound

I also gave the official xbox one headphones a thought too.
I had a pair of turtle beaches for my ps3 and they worked fine for about 6 months which is when the sound went out in one ear.
They were only $30 though, and i plan on investing a little more this time.
Do all of these plug into the controller or the xbox itself?

The turtle beach xo fours and sevens just plug into the controllers with no need to us batteries they run off the controllers wi-fi and power.

I never recommend Microsoft headsets, they suck ass.

Polk, TB, Astros and all them deal with all sorts of audio products, much better quality.

Yup. I love them. They work great with my 360 and Xbox One. I really like the Bluetooth too. I can game and talk on the phone at the same time. It's tits.

The new ones that are made for the XB1 are legit!! I tried getting an adapter and the sound was a bit off compared to when I used them on my 360... So I hit up Bull3tBait and she old me about her XO7's... I was sold , so I got a pair and have not looked back, they are the best EVER..... You can hear a lot more then u think, in Extinction u can hear the Gargoyles flapping there wings on the other side of the map.....

I also have a pair of the turtle beach XOfours. They are nice but since they run off the controller they suck the battery down pretty quick. I went and bought rechargable batteries and now its not as much of an issue. I just keep a spare set of batteries at the couch when I play BF4 just in case the controller dies.

I'm running astro a50s right now and I wouldn't trade them for anything but, you have to use the adapter for them but once you figure out how to work the adapter and cancel the game audio coming from the adapter and just have the audio come from the mix amp its outstanding. you cant go wrong with a pair of a40s either if you don't mind a few wires

I picked up a pair of xo fours for $70 at gamestop.

The Stealth 500X are truly wireless...no need to connect it to the controller like the Warhead...
