Youtube Headache

Ok my youtube streaming was fine and at times I had 3-4 people in the house doing it at once and no buffering stoppage. my internet has been pretty solid at 24-35 meg speeds for months. I have tried different DNS's. Putting a device in DMZ, shutting everything down but 1 device. (yeah that made everyone happy). I cleared cache's of everything, all updates and everything good, even just installed an SSD drive on this PC, wow super warp speed.

What else can I do? my kids and I are so frustrated.

I will buy a new router even though this one is less than a year old. I know youtube started a new way of streaming but that was a year ago, I was good til a month or so ago

Recently I became aware of a certain protocol that YouTube was using that was making streaming suffer. If you can hang on until tomorrow I should be able to get you the link to the article and solution.

On the same note it is the same problem the people have been running into while trying to watch Twitch.Tv streams. There is a fix, I am just logging off for the night and don't have the time to look for it.

Will be waiting for that magic fix, unless I find it before the night is over. I also started experiencing issues about 1 month ago on my phone and tablet. I actually thought it was an issue with the ROM's I used. The painfully slow YouTube speeds do not follow to the desktops wired to the router or the laptops using wifi.

Yeah I can wait too, kids are in bed and I am on EVE, It was mainly Xbox, then the tablets and Ipads and now my pc.

I watch twitch all the time on EVE and my son for LOL but no issues on that site

Sorry I don't have it posted yet. I just got off work I will look after dinner. The problem is with your network prioritizing certain IP addresses and that is lagging down your network so you have to manually block certain addresses. Bunch of tech jargon, but simply put your network is just getting bogged down by traffic that YouTube is forcing on you.

Alright, I have to apologize, the problem that I was originally thinking of was specifically for Twitch.tv and it was only Australian users that were affected by it. :mmph:

We can blame the TBI for that....

Anyway, I did some research and I have found somethings that might help, I am not sure that they are "the fix" but they are a good place to start.



....If your YouTube continues to behave slow, stuck or strange,
it's very possible that your directories of "temporary internet
files" and memory (often times called "cache")....

....get rid of them, or "clear
your cache" including "cookies" and "history".

Note 1: if you have Google Web Accelerator (or something
similar to it), dump it, burn it, trash it, disable it, uninstall it;
-- do all that you can to get as far away from it as possible,
even though this contradicts all my advice. Not only does it
conflict with YouTube, simply clicking on "Don't Accelerate
This Website" will not help you whatsoever.

Note 2: longer videos only require "Flash" and "Shockwave"
in order to play smooth. Other than that, avoid all the sales
pitches that some Yahooers are shilling, because they are
really disguised salespeople and peddlers. Their "answers"
have nothing to do with your question, and their wares may
actually worsen your problem. Besides, what kind of stupid
answer is:....[my paraphrase] "Although you can't watch or
access videos properly, get this downloader."

Note 3: an unusual fix that once worked for me was altering
the URL "www . youtube . com" to simply "youtube . com",
(or you can even try "ca . youtube . com").

Let me know if any of that helps, I will keep looking for solutions because it sounds more like it is a network issue than a computer issue for you.

ditto to what Tim said. Also its just YouTube, it just has problems sometimes. Clearing your cache helps most of the time.
