Couldn't find a thread on this, so here goes.
The Division pushed back to 2014
According to a recent statement from an anonymous Ubisoft Massive employee, Tom Clancy’s The Division (http://www.wegotthiscovered.com/tags/tom-clancys-the-division) has been pushed back into 2015. Though the studio’s open-world shooter hasn’t been given a release date hitherto, many assumed that the next-gen title would debut in the latter stages of 2014. If this rumor is to be believed, however, it seems likely that the game won’t make an appearance until at least next year. Having said that, it’s worth keeping in mind that this allegation remains unconfirmed, and Ubisoft have refused to comment on whether the new IP has been delayed or not.
News came via GameReactor (http://www.gamereactor.se/nyheter/139364/%22The+Division+kommer+inte+att+sl%E4ppas+i+%E5r%22/), where the unnamed source stated that the company’s title is working well, but the sheer scope of the game may cause development time to balloon in the months to come.
“The game engine works well, it is not clear but works well. Actual game development has barely begun, however. The fact that Ubisoft issued a 2014 release date seems laughable if I’ll be completely honest, we will never have time to release The Division this year. This is a big project, we have very far to go…”
With Tom Clancy’s The Division stealing the limelight at E3 last year, it shouldn’t shock anyone that Ubisoft wants to ensure that its next-gen titles are up to scratch. In fact, with the publisher shuffling the release dates for titles such as Watch Dogs, The Crew and South Park: The Stick of Truth, a delay for The Division isn’t exactly outside the realm of possibility. What’s more, with Sim Cityand Battlefield 4 each experiencing significant launch woes, Ubisoft is in the perfect position to showcase the quality of its software — in due time, of course.
