"Spotted big freeze in the wild".lol.... Yeah after the other thread I did some digging in and found out quite a bit...sad truly sad... You all most better off giving your money straight to a homeless vet than to give to any charity...sheesh

Unfortunately these days, a lot is going to overhead/management. That's what happens when these .orgs get so massive. These things don't manage themselves, and there is always a ton of work to do, and I hate to say it, but people just can't afford to work for free forever.. So a lot of the funds raised, go towards paying the people that help run the events, and to the leadership.

Unfortunately it appears to go to paying the leadership a lot of the money.

Most states have their own wounded warrior program project here in PA, that the one the VFW's are backing in central PA they give almost all the money to veteran's, here is a link http://www.pawoundedwarriors.org/what-you-can-do-to-help/

I know there are other posts on this topic, but I will insert the latest link here.

I am not trying to bash the WWP exclusively, because all the Veteran Non (or Not For) - Profits organizations swallow most of the donated money given to them. Justifying it as admin costs, advertising, or the cover of 'salaries' listed as 'compensation'. The larger orgs 'compensate' their board members and associates in the upper six figure range.
With that said (<- I hate that phrase) There are many great people involved in these orgs and it is at the highest levels that pockets get filled.

There are also a few orgs that a large proportion of the donations actually go to assist the Veterans.
Many Charity Watchdog agencies monitor these orgs and (in my opinion) should be used as, just, one guide if you want to donate. Be aware that some of these 'Charity watchdog' agencies also receive funding to change the ratings of the orgs....

My advice (just Mike's advice. Take it if you will) is to donate to local Chapter's of the Veteran organizations. This way your generosity has more of a chance to go directly into your own communities. All in all, do your homework, ask questions, then give when you can.

Our beloved Government is leaving so many gaps in assistance to our Veterans and Families, that these types of organizations are needed to bridge that gap.

I know in the Air Force every year or so we have a booklet that gets passed around and we have the opportunity to donate an amount of our choosing (per month) for a year. Just recently my donations to the AF (Airman Assistance Fund) were completed. I only mention this because I'm sure in other people's units/branches there are plenty of organizations that, though they aren't as known like the WWP are equally as beneficial and maybe less "Non-profit" due to there smaller size. Just a thought.
