Things to know for Battlefield 4

In order to better the teamwork that Battlefield games requires for majority of the game modes, I would like to start a list of tips that can benefit everyone in the community. Please add any tips that you deem worthy of sharing.



Always have a mic! It is a no brainer for most, but I find that a lack of communication between your team can hinder any successful match.
Benefits: Call out enemy positions, last movements, intentions (especially vehicle pick ups), ect.




If you're not good at a vehicle, work on it in the training range but not in a match.



Actual in-game experience helps fine tune your skills, but get the basic maneuvers and/or trajectories in the range. Your team will thank you later!
I personally can't count how many times I've worked on complex maneuvers in all helicopters. Each session makes me a better pilot.




Keep moving! A typical enemy doesn't pay too much attention to perimeter movements. If they notice a death or shots fired, they usually go the fastest way possible to the point.




Move around the enemy! The opposing side has a blind side in almost every match. You notice this more in COD than BF games, but you should take advantage of moving in a squad around to the flanks of enemies.




Attack jets can be mastered simply by learning how to lead a turn in the sights. The edge of the circle of your sights should suffice as a maximum lead on enemy aircraft. Line the aircraft on the circle in which direction they are travelling and you should be hitting them every time.




Attack helicopters utilize an "I" shaped targeting sight for shot compensation. Notice how it moves relative to your attitudes (aerodynamically). Adjust or even lead the "I" sight. Smart rockets still need a lead on fast travelling targets.




Learn how to use an RPG. It takes time to master trajectories, but I can assure you that you'll never go back to switching between sissy stingers/iglas and SRAWs.... Although SRAWs are still a good alternative.




Become one with your weapon! Certain play styles require different weapons. If you are aggressive, try high rate of fire PDWs or shotguns. If you keep your range, carbines and DMRs. LMG's usually revolve around bipod usage; pick your stats accordingly.




Utilize objective orientative game-modes to your advantage! In obliteration, rush, conquest, ect., you can expect enemy movement in the most direct way from the last position or ease of access. If multiple directions are available, pick a perimeter and stick to it.




Never trusts a random teammate to do something. They usually do not utilize teamwork in most cases. Blues (other than squad) = blueberries (never trust).

Vehicle/aircraft training: Don't do it on the test server! It's poo.
Best to do it is in an empty server with some mates who can help you prepare. Thanks to Comanche and Hagfish I finally learnt how to fly a little bit on battlefield.

Then again once you get the hang of it, it's better to go to a full server so you can get better and learn how to handle yourself under pressure.

Each rocket has its perks, but IMO the SRAW is the best across the board just because you can make those last-second corrections (I've seen AC-130s taken out with SRAWs, and 500+ meter shots that are nearly impossible with RPGs). I agree with both points, but it also depends on what your play type is. SMAWs and RPGs are good for fast attack while the SRAW is better for heavy hitting.

My recommendation for the stealth jets is to go into an Air Superiority match. Ya you will see the dick heads in there that just ram and crash into the ground any time they get touched, but it will help you learn to evade enemy jets as well as getting used to tracking them.

You can fire and forget, but it does lack the speed. Just fire and switch weapons I believe.

Another point, learn the strengths and weaknesses for each weapon so you can be effective with them. Take the M16 for example. It has a hard right pull when it fires. Put the Compensator and Angled Grip and you have a weapon passed down from God straight to you.

Or have two people lay C4 under your quad and launch to the other side of the map. Great for CTF strategies on rogue transmission, ect.



C-4, C-4, C-4. The tank destroyers of rush. Find a nice roof top and drop your 3 packs onto a tank. BOOM!
Helicopter tip: hide and seek is a great tactic for dealing with stinger bitches. Notice which direction the lock is coming from and aim that way behind a structure. Pop up and unload, hide. Cheap tactic for a cheap enemy. *caution* keep an eye out for RPGs, SRAWs, ect.




Recommendation: Attack jets can be highly effective with hydra missiles. The recharge time is almost, if not, perfect with previously mentioned strafe tactic (5sec out, 5sec up, roll inbound to a 45 degree dive). The setup allows time for spotting, unloading 14 rockets (hydra), and 30mm for the kill.

Always remember to spot targets! Try to spot enemies before they run behind cover. Nothing helps more than intel on enemy movement.
When using the HVM-II tri-rocket launcher, don't give up on targeting a vehicle after they use countermeasures. Air vehicles especially. The tracking on the HVM is rather fast; this allows for another lock on with your deterred rockets.
Helicopter tip: periodically check your airspace and general direction towards enemy bases. A winner of an aerial fight is usually the person who lands the first hit. If you're not the one with the element of surprise, make sure you time your countermeasures when the heavy, rapid incoming "THREAT" tone/message. Premature usage can lead to your end.
Generally, the "W" or "w" symbol near the crosshair in the scout helicopters is the corrected line of fire. Similar to the "I" in attack choppers.
If you're attempting to escape an enemy in a boat, make sure you go parallel to the waves. Last thing you want it to do is jump 10-30ft into the air and bring your escape to a halt.
SLAM mines can be placed onto vehicles and will detonate by themselves in 6-10seconds on an enemy vehicle. Explosive grenades can prematurely set them off.
***Infantry*** When a nearby friendly dies (unclear on distance but its fairly large), your soldier will likely call out something verbally. It can be heard by enemies. Works both ways fortunately.

Honestly it never should have been released for 360 and PS3. Just too many development points and they seem to have had the most problems.

You should fly low to the ground as much as possible. It helps keep stingers and such off you. Just remember, don't stay still or a tank could knock your sad ass to the ground.

Caspian border is a good start after you've gotten comfortable in let's say firestorm. It doesn't hurt to do low altitude circles at the test range around the whole island. You'll find that attack choppers are the easiest to do it with the great open canopy.

It's also good to switch between first to 3rd person cam when near objects, buildings, or a spot that may be hot in game. I almost always land 3rd person too. Good habit to get into as it allows more situational awareness.

I do much better this way, I can fly great if I am seeing myself do it instead of thru the windshield........ The only bad part is u can not do it in hardcore mode....

The challenge on 360 right now is taking air superiority in conquest when you only know how to fly a chopper and all anyone does on the other team is jet ram all day everyday. Frickin annoying as hell
