View Full Version : No skill snipers wanted
New rifle scope introduced that enables even a reporter to hit target at 1200 yards!
This set up allows the shooter to simply look down sight, put crosshairs on target, pull and hold trigger while the gun calculates distance, windspeed, Cornelius effect, everything, then fires when a solution is given. It's even WiFi so your spotter and you can share Intel.
Made by trackingpoint, seen on Fox news channel.

I think you meant coriolis effect (https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1MSIM_enUS555US555&es_sm=122&q=coriolis+effect&spell=1&sa=X&ei=wR5pU93NPMWu8AH50oHgBQ&ved=0CCYQBSgA). I've never heard of the "Cornelius effect" (and neither has Google)
Blame it on my phone

Coriolis effect is just something spoken about in movies because it sounds cool, or salesman trying to sell you some high tech scope. I went to Marine Corps Scout Sniper School and it was never mentioned. I also shot at a target 1,850 yard away and hit it without accounting for Coriolis effect. Just a little Kentucky windage!! Lol!!

I've only ever had to deal with or even heard mentioning of the coriolis effect in aviation. This is valid as the curvature of the earth varies greatly over long XCs. 1200 yards isn't anything on the scale of earth.
It's simply putting fancy words into the marketing. I personally think this should be limited to military. It allows a great opportunity for novice marksmen to shoot targets (or people) far far away.
Would rather be flying at the moment

With tech like that the young guns will become dependent on it and when the batteries die so do they.
