What's up guys! I've had Allstate for about 5 years now. It's expensive as fuck and I feel dumb for staying with them so long. Anyways, I'm looking to switch to a cheaper, more military friendly insurance provider.

Right now I'm paying $150 a month. I have a minor car accident on my record, but it happened over 4 years ago.

So, who do you guys use?

I use USAA, for 6 months I pay around 300 or so for each vehicle with a $500 deductible. Not sure what's left on my record but my wife just totaled her new car in March and it didn't raise our rates.

I've used USAA since 1999. They're not just an insurance company, they're also a bank. I have my auto, and homeowners insurance through them. Bank accounts, numerous car loans, and a credit card. The more you do with them, the better your rates will be.

State Farm. It's like $360 a month. 2 cars, homeowners, and two life insurance policies. Will probably do my next auto loan through them as well, with State Farm bank.

I'm switching to esurance. Currently have AAA Insurance but esurance quoted me half the price I'm paying for AAA. (40/month vs 87). But my car is like 10 years old. Still getting full coverage tho. Not sure of any Military discount. I do get offers as a Dept of the Army Civ.

I love Geico and effin' hate USAA. they fucked me, with sandpaper, and no lube, several times. fuck them in the fuckin goat fuckers fuckin asshole, with an angle grinder. I say that with peace and love/ :hippie:

EDIT - Geico does give Military and Government discount, and it was deeper and had more coverage then USAA.

I'm thinking about switching to one of these two. I got a quote from Progressive and it was $60 cheaper than what I pay with Allstate. I've also heard great things about esurance.

I'd guess it may be because they anal raped him with sandpaper and no lube. It was pretty ugly.

I second chinook, I have USAA auto insurance and not only are they reasonably priced, the will go to bat for you when your in an accident. I recently got hit by a lady and she tried to say it was my fault, the USAA took the pics I sent them of the scene along with my testimony to court and won... I didn't pay a dime and my car was fully repaired and my premium didn't increase

To be honest.. i think Car Insurance is like , Cell phone Carriers, Cable tv and internet providers.. there is good storys and bad story's for them all.. ive been with USAA for my bank and car insurance for over 20 years.. but i stay away from all other things.. home mortgage and house insurance. this can be found other places better and cheaper.. and when it come to the car insurance if your a good driver and no accidents they treat you pretty good . but once you have a accident and it was your fault .. yeah ive been told to drop USAA in a heart beat cause they just like another insurance is in the business of MAKING MONEY!! .. they one time in 20 years i was T-boned and the cop tried telling me it was my fault by law cause i was in her lane of traffic.. the adjuster used that and raised my rate.. after i went to court and i was found not guilty.. they didnt care.. adjuster had already made the ruling.. that how all car insurance's go.. i called around cause i was so pissed.. yup they dont care about the courts after the fact.. sheesh.. but my rates went up for 6 months and then dropped back down to normal..so i stayed.. only thing i dont care for is no local bank.. but once i get settled i think ill open a local acct somewhere..

I just got quotes from both USAA and Progressive for the same coverage. It ended up being cheaper from Progressive.

Progressive-$92.19
USAA-$111.18

That's a very good point. I have heard many good/horror stories about both.

Before Allstate, I had State Farm. They were expensive and their customer service wasn't that great. I switched to Allstate after that. They were around the same price. However, after I got in an accident, they dropped me. I drove for a while without insurance, and after a few months I went back to Allstate.

Now, I am leaning towards Progressive, since they gave a cheaper quote than USAA for the same coverage.

Get a quote from Esurance before you commit to one. It's free and only takes a few minutes. If cost is your deal breaker I would bet Esurance cost less than Progressive!!

If I were you I'd go to an independent insurance agent. They take the coverage you want and compare amongst all the providers to get you with the best rates. At least that's what mine did. With a ticket and an accident I have full coverage on 2 15-20k cars and it costs me $100 a month. And it's through a company with awesome customer service.

I got a quote from Esurance too for the same coverage. They were about the same price as Progressive, just $0.20 more.

I also just got a quote from Geico. It was $130.85 for the same coverage. Cheaper than Allstate, but still more expensive than Esurance and Progressive.

I don't even know where to start... I am also moving to Virginia in a few weeks. I could wait until then to get it from a local independent insurance company.

For Virginia your better off using usaa. I live out here and the insurance costs more than it did in California

Told you man progressive Is the way to go.

I have Geico and I love them.

Had them even when I was in the military.

I would roll with progressive but if you're getting a motorcycle.

I personally think progressive provides the cheapest rates for motorcycles.

Everyone else try's to ass rape your wallet.
