First day back to college

Well yesterday was my first day back to college after being medically discharged from the Army. Anyone else find it super weird going back?

Heh yeah definitely. I was enrolled at Michigan until pretty much when I shipped out, then almost as soon as I got out, I was back at IIT. It was a very different atmosphere, not just because it was a completely different place, but because my perspective on life and priorities had changed so much. I saw the "old me" in a lot of the guys I interacted with. I felt like an old prickly fart pretty often but with a full time job and course load, I just wasn't on the same page as most everybody else socially.

i know what you're talking about too... it is different. Our world view is.... radically different then the average college weenie that never served and is straight from High School.

Yea im getting more and more annoying with these kids each day and not to mention im having to do a group project with 5 of them. So far im the only one doing the work which is fine with me we grade each other at the end of it.

Keep LOTS of notes on who does what then. Submit them to your instructor and explain your problem and either work it out where you get to branch off at the end or they all either fail or get the lowest grade.

Honestly?

Because business and corpoRATe America is all about standing on the other guy to look better. It's like training you to learn how to be stood upon I think.
I always solo'd group projects. I'd take the instructor aside and let them know I would be turning in a project of my own work and worth. That I didn't want to team up with the slacker asses in my classes. One or 2 people were alright - and if they 3 or 4 of us were grouped up - we would throw a HUGE project together and we would make the other groups look like the small minded lazy slugs they were.

Instructors were.... informed by the Dean and by the School Director ( 2 different people) that they were not allowed to let us group together for any group work assignments. It would be "unfair and not conducive to a good learning environment if they continue to shame and show up the other students" was the email I saw that an instructor showed us.

The odd thing is I think im the oldest person in class beside this one lady who looks maybe 45. I called one of the guys yesterday asking if they got my text he said "yea" and in my head im thinking (why in the heck didn't you reply 2 days ago?) so I asked him again if he wants to meet up with me when I go do the interview with the counselor (I am going for a degree in counseling) all he said was "sorry I cant make it" and that was it. So as of now im doing all the leg work which again im fine with I may not be able to smoke them but I can fail them with which I have no sympathy for them. I understand they may not of been in the military but I think its common courtesy to reply when someone asks a question especially of a project and if you cant make it give me a reason why, who know I might just be able to help you. GEEZZz!!! >.> That's my rant for the day im gona go change my pad and take my midol lol

The only time I have had success in group work/research has been during my PhD work, other than that I have had to carry the team, assign tasks, then more than likely finish them lol and I had no problems letting the Prof know what was going on
