A Burger King employee clocked out Monday afternoon to assault a customer at the restaurant's drive-through, Lower Paxton Township police said. The 59-year-old customer, who is from Lancaster, had called the employee a "derogatory" name following a dispute, police said.

The Lancaster man said the employee, Michael D. White, 35, of Rawleigh Street in the township, had refused to display the price of a meal on the order board, sparking the argument at the restaurant on East Park Drive.

As the dispute escalated, the employee removed his headset and exited the store after telling the manager to clock him out, police said. White walked up to the vehicle, punched the customer in the side of the head and threw a soda on him, police said.

The customer suffered swelling and a bruise, police said.

Lower Paxton Township Lt. Gary Seefeldt said the customer admitted to insulting White, but told police his comment was not racial in tone.

Police said they are obtaining a warrant charging White with simple assault but that his whereabouts are unknown.
