I am not into pro football, but I love college football mainly SEC and my Georgia Bulldogs. Just wanted to provide a thread for other college football fans to tailgate and talk a little trash.

Well let me start by saying I love all football, pro, college and hell living down south I even watched a pair of Georgia high School teams play the other week. I certainly do respect the SEC, but I was really hoping Clemson would win that game. Pretty unbelievable that one player made all the difference(IMO). I have no delusions of my team(Boston College) making it to a championship game (conference or National) anytime soon if ever. You can count on me to frequent this thread and talk shit. Especially those tools that don't have a conference Championship game.

Half my family went to Clemson and the other half went to Carolina. A few went to both and a couple of cousins went out of state specifically to avoid getting dragged into that war lol. My mother and I opted for military service but I've been a tiger from birth. Pictures show me at two years old trying to help do dished with a Clemson child apron on and as a teen I had an excessive Clemson hat collection. I remember getting status updates while flying missions in the sandbox with a pilot who graduated South Carolina. In short, while I didn't go to Clemson, it's in my blood lol.
Honestly Clemson's best chance was last year and what a year it was. Not overly fond of this past weeks game but not disappointed either. Receivers need some work with Stoudt. At least it wasn't a loss to the gamecocks.

I support Michigan and Michigan State but Notre Dame is the enemy. I also go for ASU and went to the opening game last Thursday and watched them stomp all over Weber.

I'm not a BC fan, but it is great to see an upset like that. Seems BC gets one yearly, since the days of Flutie.

I'm a huge BC fan. The upset game is like my national championship. They almost had Florida State last year. Those games help recruiting and national awareness. Not to mention I love seeing the PAC and SEC lose to other conferences, especially the ACC.

Hoke is done for sure now unless he runs the table. Since that won't happen, I wonder who we'll be getting to replace him. There is a ton of talent, great incoming classes, and a pro style system already so there won't have to be an adjustment period if we get a traditional type HC. I know there have been some rumors about Harbaugh, but there's some bad blood between him and the institution I guess, it would be nice if they could put that aside. Regardless though, I don't see him leaving the NFL.

If they are smart they will hire anyone and not just a "Michigan Man". I think he is doing a good job with what he has. Everyone up there needs to step back and realize that it's not the same program it was. They haven't won a conference championship(best record, no game) in 11 years(10 if you give credit for "Co-Champions"), gone undefeated in 24 years, or won a NC since 97. The SEC and the south have become the place to go for recruits. It's hard to get kids these days based on history, most just want a fast track to the NFL.

Hoke has nabbed up some great recruits for a while now. Gardner (although not Hoke's recruit IIRC) was the #1 dual threat QB coming out of HS. The O line recruits, also great, but they also suck on Saturdays. Talent is everywhere on the bench and on the field, it's not the problem.
It's pretty evident he can't run a program at this level. He can recruit for sure, he's great at it. Acquiring talent hasn't been the issue. His player development has been godawful.
Things like repeating the same BS after every disappointing loss give a bit of insight as to what may be wrong with his approach. "I hope the fans are booing us and not the players." "The kids worked really hard out there today." "Real fans don't boo." etc.... That, and getting into the face of Mattison Saturday after what was an inconsequential penalty while the defense was the only unit doing anything worth half a damn.... He's clueless. There's no place for an "everybody gets a trophy" coach at a big time program. If you want to win at this level - especially with the handicaps in place now for up north teams in crap conferences - you are going to have to hurt some kids' feelings and stomp on some dreams. I don't think he's capable.
I completely agree with what you're saying as far as the talent scales shifting heavily to the SEC, and if I was bitching about us losing to SEC teams, I'd understand what you're saying in this context, but getting dominated by Utah...? Almost losing to a TERRIBLE Akron team last year? Having issues with a TERRIBLE Miami OH team this year? Can't beat MSU? Can't beat OSU? Issues pulling away in games against the bottom of the Big Ten (a bad conference to start with)? Getting spanked in bowl games minus one where you got dominated all damn day (keep in mind that was year one for him so those were all RRod's guys)?
There's no reason Michigan shouldn't be able to consistently beat the bottom dwellers of the conference (and others like Akron last year and Miami this year) by comfortable margins. There's no reason why your recruiting classes should be on par with OSU and MSU yet you continue to get drubbed by both.
They don't need a "Michigan Man", they just need a coach who knows what needs to be done to win at a program like that.

Since I currently live in Georgia I know what you mean. I'm just pissed that all I hear about college football, in between what Lebron and Kobe had for lunch and what color it was when it came out, is how the SEC is the greatest. It irritates me Alabama doesn't get flak for falling behind Auburn, but FSU(Not My Team) gets ranked 4th for falling behind teams. Plus the SEC as a conference has at least 2 full blown cupcake weeks each year and they get credit for running up the score on Florida Atlantic
