So I finally did it... I traded in the old XBox in favor of a shiny new PS4. If anyone would like to add me I'd appreciate it. I'm not real sure how to work everything yet so it would probably take forever to add everyone. The only game I have at the moment is ghosts but I'm looking to get Madden 15 and MLB The Show godly in the semi near future.

I was really worried about not liking or being able to adjust to the controller... So far no issues and I'm loving the gameplay.

I also jumped ship from Xbox. I have to say it felt closer to changing my religion than anything else. I was on the Xbox side of the house since it was first brought out. For me, it came down to that E3 where Microsoft basically came out on to stage, gave the finger to it's fans and walked off. The used game polcies and the kinect requirement were too much for me to overcome. Sony appeared to be making an effort to listen to what it's customer based wanted rather than tell it's customer base what it wanted.

Yeah, you are not alone. That seemed to be the case for many gamers and now they are trying to play catch up in the sales. They dropped the price by removing the kinect from the system, now they are offering free games, and then they are going to start selling the kinect separately again for those who may decide they want it.

I switched over to PS3. In my opinion it's still the better console due to the fact that it's more user friendly. I like that you can connect Bluetooth devices and external memory. I'm hoping that eventually they'll allow us to do the same on PS4.

Welcome to the dark side!

My hope is that they'll implement the ability to get a hybrid drive (at the very least) in there. No excuse for these platters in 2014. But that's just, like, my opinion man.

Welcome to the good side. Jumped ship from the 360 a couple years ago haven't looked back. Now I've got the PS4. Need to pick up Destiny some day.

Or they were trying to duplicate Steam on console. But why rehash that argument....

First thing I did when I opened the box for my new white PS4 was to install a hybrid 1TB drive into it. My thinking is that I was going to do it someday down the road, so why wait until had a lot of information to transfer over.

On a side note- This has to be the first console I know of that the manufacture itself had instructions on it's official site about how to modify the console itself. Another sign of Sony actually listening to what customers want.

Hey I have a white one too! We can be special twinsies!

Back on the off-topic topic though, you can really just swap in a hybrid drive without running into the embedded console police? Cool, I had no freaking idea. I'm doing that as soon as I'm not too lazy to do so. So, maybe later this week or something.

For some reason, I was worried there was some sort of security EEPROM / driver / optimization issue or something that would make it impossible. I'll have to check out those instructions, thanks for the info!

EDIT: I read this article here (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-ps4-hard-drive-upgrade-guide), the analysis they've come up with seems to indicate a hybrid drive might not have as much benefit as I would have expected. SSD nets some really noticeable results but they are expensive. I might just stick to the 5400 for now, or get a faster mechanical, I dunno. Or maybe I'll grab a hybrid up and wait for the optimization to come. I like the last paragraph in the article:

...the fact that the hybrid offers up some occasionally decent gains in performance does open up a tantalising proposition. The PS4 reserves an area of the hard drive (believed to be on the outside of the platter, where performance is best) for game developers to cache data. What if Seagate worked with Sony on a bespoke drive upgrade that ensured that the SSD flash was used exclusively for the cache? Combine that with a 7200rpm drive and we could be looking at the best of both worlds - SSD speeds where it could really make a difference, combined with the cost-effective level of storage that an SSD can't provide right now.

That would be awesome. Shelling out for a big SSD sucks.

If I could use a XB1 controller on PS4 I would switch in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I absolutely hate the PS controller to no end! If I had options I would have jumped a long time ago.

Have you tried the new PS4 controller. I felt the same way with the PS3 and now love ps4 remote.

The dual shock four is greatly improved over the PS3! Feels much better, especially the triggers

This ^^^

I didn't want to switch because of the controller but now I'm glad I did. I hated the PS3 controller but the PS4 one feels good. Not as perfect as the xbox, but still good and not as hard of a transition as I expected.

Agreed. I love the off-set sticks of the xbox controllers and hate the PS3 controller. I still miss the off-set sticks but went a long ways to improving their controller. Dual Shock 4 is a close to perfect as a reasonable person could hope for.

I'm still adapting to COD on PS4. It's really not as bad as I thought it would be the sticks take some getting used to but that is really the only issue I'm having now. See you all online!
