What dicates your favorite sports team?

Is it proximity to your home or what teams your family followed growing up? Prehaps something as simple as the uniform?

I know I live in south florida but i find myself following the Detroit Lions more than any other NFL team.

As far back as I can remember I have been a Dallas fan. Growing up in Japan we didn't get a lot of football but I think my grand dad had me convinced they were the best team and I have loved them since.

For me it was both, grandfather is a huge Red Sox and Patriots fan so that's what I grew up watching, soon the other sports followed. Pretty much the only non Boston team I root for is UConn thanks tho my late uncle.

I picked mine because I was from Ohio and hated the Browns but didn't want to jump on a bandwagon... so I picked the worst team in the league when I was 10 years old and have followed them ever since... Thirty years now.

My family is from Canada so I was brought up on Hockey. I grew up an hour from The San Francisco bay area so I went to many San Jose Sharks games. I have a small place for the Toronto Maple leafs since my Grandfather was from Toronto and was a die hard fan. Baseball, Im Giants till I die, BEAT KC!!!!

I am bred as a Cowboys fan, No one in my family is not a Cowboys fan. From Dallas and all but 2 of us live there. .

Just who I like in general. I liked the Braves partially because of geography, but that wasn't the only reason (and the other baseball teams i like are not geographically close). And in ultimate, my favorite teams are not close geographically at all.

Seahawks was part geographic....it's the only football team in WA, and part tradition, grew up watching the Hawks with my dad, now we watch them with my kids.

Mariners because of geography and Ken Griffey Jr.

Blazers because Clay Bennett is a filthy son of a bitch who deserves to be raped by a moose for stealing the Sonics.

Sounders because of geography, and because MLS is on the rise.

There's no hockey locally, so I don't really know what that is, besides Gretzky and the Mighty Ducks.

UW because it's closer than WSU, though I attended both.

And the Seminoles because my best friend in Basic was a huge Noles fan, and I have to uphold the tradition since he can't.

Cowboys-both my parents side of the family are cowboy fans. They got to me first when I was a child before my dad could make me a raider fan lol

SF giants because I liked Barry bonds growing up

Chicago bulls- no explanation they were the best growing up. Been following them since.

FSU seminoles- was a huge warrick dunn fan when I played football as a rb in middle school and high school.

Not much of a hockey follower now But red wings are my team bc yzerman was pretty good when I watched it also their colors are red.

Chelsea- my cousin got me into them plus they've been pretty good in FIFA since 04 lol

Born and raised in the show me state and have to say I grew up being a rams fan but then Marshall faulk retired and Kurt Warner went to Arizona and ill admit I was a kc fan because of my buddy and that's how I met my sons mother :-) mlb though I don't watch but I've been to two games a cards game in stl then a white sox game in Chicago had more fun at the white sox game so I like them more lol

Virginia doesn't have a team and im not going to be a Redskin or Panther because they are close .so I became a Eagle ,I like the colors and we dont have a Superbowl yet,so ill be their when we get one "Fly High"

When I was young I just went with what the family liked (for the most part). Half my family was from San Francisco and I showed with them, so I liked the 49ers and the Giants (the rest of my family liked Green Bay). Once I was old enough to think for myself I went with the home team for football and baseball, Seahawks and Mariners. I loved the Detroit Pistons for basketball because I seriously wanted to be Grant Hill when he broke into the league.

I grew up with the Big 3 in Dallas. I lived in NM due to my father being in the military but location wasn't important. Emmitt Smith was my hero along with Jay Novachek and I always wanted to be them. Been a diehard fan since I could remember.

Football- Cowboys
Basketball- Lakers (More just a Kobe fan)
Baseball-Mariners (Ken Griffey Jr.)
Hockey- Have never been big into it so I couldn't tell you, maybe I'll pick up NHL and form a fandom
Soccer- What's that? Love FIFA but not a fan of any team.

I picked up sports from my mom so it's the Angels of Anaheim for baseball, football I bounce in between the Colts Broncos and the 49ers. College is Fresno State of course cuz that's my home team and hockey is the Anaheim Ducks.

Soccer- Just really got into it this past summer with FIFA and the WORLD CUP. Really enjoy watching Messi and Neymar so have been following FC Barcelona

Geographical, I suppose. I was a mobile child when I grew up. Born in the Western part of Mass. I hung out in the Boys Club in town (do they still have these?), where everyone were Yankees fans. I took the road less traveled and found a allegiance to the Boston teams.

This stems from sneaking into the Pittsfield Red Sox games, where I had the pleasure of meeting Yaz, Williams (yes, Ted), the Conigliaro brothers, Bill Lee, among many others. I later, moved to a small Massachusetts town across the bay from Boston and this solidified my loyalty to the Boston teams. Of course being a 'mobile' child, I spent most of teenage years in Omaha. That lead to my love for Nebraska Football.... So....

Pro teams: Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, Patriots
College: Cornhuskers - Football; Creighton BlueJays -Basketball.

I grew up in KY so I never really had a home team, but always liked he Steelers. I was stationed at Fort Carson, CO in 96 and won tickets to a Denver Bronco's game. I've been a huge fan ever since.

Was born and raised in Ann Arbor. Went to tons of Detroit sports games as a kid. Both parents went to Michigan. I went to Michigan. My father works at the hospital doing doctor stuff and another brother just completed Med school there, I have a step brother who is a nurse there... Right now is the lowest point in my Michigan fandom. What a train wreck and embarrassment that has become, and I'm not specifically talking about the on-the-field suckage.

I remember going to so many Tigers games in the '90s, it was unreal. There was a bit of time there where you got a "Coke Card" with Coke purchases.... If you showed that at the gate at day games, you got a bleacher ticket for $1! This was only around 15 years ago. I paid for a ticket in the bleachers on an awesome day for four quarters once. Four quarters!!! I'm sad that place is gone, I really liked it. Not sad the Silverdome is gone. Honolulu blue through and through. Say what you want about the Lions, there's something to be said about a fanbase that is as strong as it is after all the BS we've put up with. And... well... I don't remember the Dead Things. I was lucky enough to have my memories start directly after that. They have been good to us. I was a fan of the Pistons until they somehow thought it was a good idea to dump Chauncey and pick up AI. I don't really care much for the NBA though.

...I guess it's mainly location for me then. U of M. Anything Detroit. My allegiances will never change.

That's a good move. Roethlisberger threw 12 TDs the past 2 games and they are playing the Jets next!! Sounds like a no brainer to me, and I'm a Jets fan unfortunately!! Lol

The jets have always struggled with Roethlisberger even when their defense was solid. Now there secondary sucks and everyone throws for big yards against them. Ben will have a better game than Brees definitely!! You won't be sorry.
