Been playing some Minecraft and got to tell you, modded minecraft is crazy awesome. They take this game about gathering materials throughout the world and crafting them together into funny block constructions into a game that has you build a smeltery, turbines, generators, cannons and even nuclear reactors! It is absolutely insane the amount of variety you can get from all the different mods. And this doesn't even take a computer literate person to obtain the mods. Instead of having to search mod, find site to download, edit program and hope you did it right so your game doesn't crash, you can just go to a single site, download program and bam, whatever mods or modpacks you want get downloaded and installed and you just play.

Now that I've gotten into MineCraft it has made me wonder, why I spent $500 on PS4 (which games are slow to release, PSN doesn't work, BF4 doesn't care about console[Don't even want to talk about X1]), then get all the bonuses (PS+, warranty, headset) for another $400 when I could have gotten a PC for $1200 and just upgraded a piece of it every year for $200 and had a better gaming experience...

Off topic....

MineCraft is amazing and can't wait to upgrade/purchase my computer. If anyone here plays holler about what you like or what not. Currently my PC is garbage so I mainly play alone or on good connection servers, and I love survival (Crash landing).

I started playing recently with my son.. We are playing on PS3. I still haven't decided if I like it or not.. Its pretty fun right now, but also somewhat repetitive.. I have concern, that I'll get bored with it.

My son and I play often, pc or xbox 360 or one.

We play alot of modded types, we just were trying a mod with starwars lightsabers and blasters. even npc characters from the movies. I played some with other gamers before some nice mods out there. If there is enough interest I have thought about renting a server lately. I run one in home but hosted is better.

yeah, that's kinda where I was going too. If there were a few people that wanted to go in on one, perhaps we could rent one for the community.

U logged about 60 hrs this weekend on a friends home hosted server. Got a massive amount of resources built up (30k iron) thanks to automation from mods. We have got resource gathering and processing taken care of so now we're just starting to get into some magic mods We haven't started yet.

It's fun. You start with nothing, chop down trees to make wood tools. Use those to get stone tools, then iron tools then diamond or better tools. Once you have a decent amount of resources people tend to start being creative and building houses or bases. Its fun building and seeing others build. And then there is modded minecraft on pc, which can either add way more content or start you on a world with a patch of dirt and a tree and say go.

I tried it out and I can't get into it really, it's not that super fun for me I'd rather play with Legos instead.

I find that its relaxing. I don't ever play with anyone, but I like to build mostly on creative. The biggest enjoyment is that I get a bit of nostalgia from being that its 8 bit. Takes me back to my childhood.

So I was wondering if you guys had any good mods that maybe I haven't tried.

Currently I run (almost always) Tinkers Construct, EnderIO, Pam's harvestcraft, Openblocks, thermal expansion, thermal foundation, Extra utilities, Applied Energistics..... There's probably more that have changes that don't have to do with tech that I don't recognize as I use them. Also I occasionally run Iguana Tweaks for tinkers if I feel like I need to stay in early game longer. I enjoy tech mods the most and like automation a lot.

Also if anyone has questions on which mods do what I may be able to help. With the production of garbage games or non-existing publication of good games coming to console I tend to spend more time on PC Minecraft than my console anymore.

My husband and I play on X1 all the time. We love the fact that there are so many possibilities. It's something you have to play to understand as it is hard to explain. We love it. Also it is one of the only games where Hubby gets mad at it and still plays.... (very rare). I use it as a relaxation game mostly. Though things can get hectic...
