My experience with WoD Day 1

So I logged on last night pretty late (~8:15PM Central) expecting a queue... and there was one. It was some 1200 people deep and the estimate bounced from 40 minutes to 90+ minutes. No big deal right? Waited 35 minutes, then they bounced me from the queue (it was down to only 668 in front of me) and I couldn't get back in as they locked the server.

Big thumbs down so far. Hasn't this company ever been through the paces to know what to expect when a highly anticipated expansion drops? (BTW /rhetorical)

Yeah, Ghost and I were on shortly before you.. I gave it 30 minutes, and played Diablo 3 while I waited.. Still showing 45 minutes in the queue, and just decided to pull the plug until today..

I don't mind waiting, not like they give something special away for logging in the first day.. :eyebrows:

I don't mind waiting at all, as long as the waiting leads to something. Hopefully tonight they either just have them locked, or the end of the queue actually ends up with me in-game.

I've got other stuff to play anyway, but I'd appreciate if getting in the queue meant actually eventually getting in the game.

I guess worse things could happen, I shouldn't bitch so much.

So it is confirmed they were under a DDoS attack! Maintenance was extended today, should be done shortly. Here's hoping for a better day. See you all in game...I hope lol

I couldn't get on at all today. I was in queue with like 2600 people ahead of me. I finally gave up. Hoping this weekend I'll get a chance to actually play.

I guess they reduced capacity to help deal with issues? I got on the server last night but the Wings-Hawks game was on so I watched that. After that I was kinda drunk so I played some CoD campaign instead of WoW. I should be on some today.

It's not up yet. Hopefully the maintenance will mean they can open the servers back up to "full" capacity.

I remember now there was another reason I didn't play last night. Somehow when I wiped and restored the computer, the profiles which were saved into the G13 itself were deleted. I hate having to redo all that crap. I'm not sure why it happened.

Are you guys sticking with your previous UIs? I was thinking of just keeping the stock UI right now and adding on incrementally as I go instead of what I've done in the past (packaged UIs). The stock piece has gotten so much better over the years but some things still suck.

so far I really like it.. I had tried it on a earlier version, and thought it needed some work still, as it used a lot of memory and caused my UI to get really slow. He has optimized it a lot, and I have removed quite a few of the standalone mods I had been using, because most of the functions are built in natively on supervillian. right now, really only running it, GTFO, and DBM.

The story is so awesome! I am really liking the expac so far.. They really did a great job with WoD!

Yeah I agree, they've done a good job with this. BC was the last expansion I enjoyed anywhere near this much.

I'm screwed lol, there is going to be a 10 year Anniversary event with a lvl 100 boss that's gonna drop a mount. We need to get in on it. I would also like to get a group together for some dungeon runs. I've only got the first 2 available but it's a start

Hellz to the yeah! I'd love a new mount for my collection. I'm down for any dungeon runs. I'm available this weekend, just give me a timeframe, and I'll try my best to be on.

Already got my Garn Nighthowl, and Core Hound mounts, also sitting at 634 ilevel, need 1 more point to get into the raids when they open them up. They are giving EVERYONE who had an account that was in good standing 5 free days of game time to make up for the DDOS attack headaches......You can see my rants on the other WoW thread, so tomorrow 12/5/14 you will have 5 more days of playtime added to your account history. They realized how big of a headache it was and are trying to make customers happy.

I might be able to do some dungeons tonight. I'll have to go chop down an ancient and then hit up four spots to chop a medium tree or something first (for the T3 lumber yard) but other than that if I'm on I should be free.

Just now looked into transmog and void storage.... I guess I missed the fact that they existed and how they work. Pretty neat.
