Eagerly awaiting it. Just waiting to see if there will be a collectors edition or not.

I am VERY excited about this.....

At the same time, the state that AC: Unity was released in gives me pause.

No release date for it yet. But I do hope there will be a multi-player aspect to it.

Well it also can be just PvE, but it seems to be one mode, just depends on where in the city you go.

Not that I've heard, just 2015. Probably will be announced at E3 in June.

Probably end of year or next. I read somewhere that there were delays because of the scope... but can't find the article now to link it.

Yeah it was initially supposed to be Christmas 14/spring 15, but there were delays. Hoping for summer 15 now but there's been nothing hard out there.

Thats sad. This game was introduced at E3 in 2013. Here it is 2015 and it might not even be out this year. I understand devs want to build up hype for a game, but they shouldn't be allowed to introduce a game that long before it comes out.

As opposed to releasing it with issues so that they don't release info too soon?

I would be ticked off if I had pre-ordered, but that is why I never pre-order anymore. There is a delay to fix some bugs... and then there is 2 years of delays which ultimately is because of flat out missing deadlines and poor performance by your programmers...

And why not? Who should "not allow" that? What, praytell, is wrong with hyping years in advance? Marvel just released a teaser for the Infinity War films - release dates are 2018 and 2019!!!!! That is way farther in the future.

Exactly this. BF4 (and plenty of other games) would have been better if they had been delayed.

Yeah I'm done pre-ordering as well...but how do you know it is because of "poor performance by programmers"? Are you a programmer? It's not easy to put together a massive game, especially in the multiplayer realm. There are so many moving pieces and sometimes what you wrote just doesn't work right - and debugging strange glitches in a 40 gigabyte application means some serious digging to find those logic errors.

Because that is their job. In any industry (aside from gaming), a 3 year project becoming delayed to a tune of 5 years represents a failure by the project team. There is a fine line between accepting a few delays to make sure it is right, and them taking pre-orders on a concept they know in most cases that they can't deliver. Whether I program or not has nothing to do with it. It is there job, not mine. Why would we not hold them to the same standards we hold to our own work?

Rumor has it the beta will be released in March and that The Division will be an Xbox exclusive for a short time before being released on the PS4. Again, this is just a rumor. Either way I am looking forward to it being released.

That is incorrect. It is also coming to PC.

I would say in some cases, yes, that is correct. An incremental release such as CoD or Battlefield, where the game is built off an existing updated engine, with only changes to a core game style. But this is a completely new game, on a new engine. You are making baseless generalizations. I don't really care when it comes out if it's good when it does (that's why I don't pre-order).

I would agree with you if they didn't press release their release dates that they probably know they aren't going to make, for no other reason than to bring money into development. This isn't some independent company with no name recognition... So the argument has as much credibility as being an apologist for a business practice that dangles an idea to get money, only to pull it back so they can develope it on your dime... And just like other 3rd person shooter multiplayers... You can't say that the delays will really help cause it still might be a turd.

So...what's your point? It sounds like you're just ranting at this point. If you don't like it, don't pre-order, like you and I both said we wouldn't do. Otherwise, what is your problem with it?

And your last statement is just ridiculous. Of COURSE it still might be a turd - any game might. But if you delay a game because of known issues to fix them, then it WILL be a better game than without the fixes.

My point is pretty clear. I was discussing a typical marketing practice that has extremely poor ethics. You replied with, "nuh-uh." I concede.

You realize you just described "Kickstarter" right? The highly successful practice of dangling a product concept in order to develop on another person's dime?

Exactly. And while there have been some scams/sketchy stuff, for the most part the funded projects have been good at providing updates and moving along, even if they took a little while.

I would rather have a developer release a game later than on time to have it so royally screwed up and full of bugs that could have been avoided if it wasn't rushed. Honestly I think that games shouldn't have a specific date that they will be launched on.

That wouldn't be a bad idea - give a general time frame (Spring 2016)...then update it as they get closer (no it'll be June 2016)...then only give a hard date about a month in advance.

It would never work for a myriad of reasons, but I think it would be nice.

Oh yeah they do that with movies all the time why not with a game.
