PS4 vs XB1 by Bravofiveone

I have had time to compare the two consoles and wanted to share my personal conclusions.

So far I still hate that the XB1 MS tile UI or the avatar rip on the Mii. But, I've never been a fan of the PS4's lackluster UI either.

I like that the XB1 has the Sling TV app now it's become a one stop place to watch over the Apple TV (except for pay movies and tv shows still prefer iTunes vs MS video)...was one of the suckers that bought a Zune...never again!

It also helps that it has Amazon, YouTube, and Netflix apps.

The XB1 did a good thing by including a HD TV calibration menu. I wish the PS4 had something similar, but I had Blu-Ray calibration disc and tweakmytv.com to help with that.

We all know how different the controllers are, but I was shocked at how alien the XB1 felt after having left the 360 for PS4 then picking up an XB1.

Took awhile but the feel came back and I had fun playing BF4.

My wife likes the connivence of all the major apps on one console. Point XB1

Ease of navigation of UI. Point PS4

Controller...the big debate. Only from a durability stand point after having the right trigger spring snap on three PS4 controllers from FPS games. Since, I believe the PS3 and PS4 controllers were built for action games and RPGs not FPS. Point XB1

A big plus for a lot of us Xbox guys is the ability to share your games. Granted you have to have some trust placed in there (sharing your user name and password) and I think you can only share your games with one person.
Basically, if I had a game (or a few) that you wanted but couldn't afford or were on the fence about... I could give you my user info and you would have access to my entire library of downloaded games and you could download them to your console and play them as much as you want, when ever you want as long as I don't change my info on my home console.

Also, the snap feature on XB1 really comes in handy if you're an achievement hunter or like to listen to music while you're gaming. Snap youtube to the side of your screen and you can play video games and watch to youtube at the same time. This feature really comes in handy while playing Minecraft!

PS3 and PS4 can do this as well, but yeah, big trust issue there. Thats why I share only with my little brother, that way we can play together and not have to buy the same games twice in most instances. PS4 has share play as well, so you can let a friend take over your game for i think 1 hour sessions. Still some trust issues involved but not as bad as sharing your user/pass with anyone. There was that big news story about the kid convincing people to let him take control and then deleted their destiny or GTA5 characters

As for the PS4 UI, i honestly hate it. Its a huge mess when you have a lot of downloaded titles because they still have yet to implement organizing features like we had in the PS3

I feel as if it would benefit me to continue the XBOX lineage simply because "Games with Gold" has given me at least 4 free xbone games and I am told that I can carry over all my xbla info and profile. I am still up in the air about which one to get and my schedule hasn't afforded me the opportunity to pull pitch on research or as least pull my head out of my fourth point of contact and read up on anything. Any pointers?

But it depends on each players likes both have exclusives...atm the PS4 has better with Bloodborne but then Halo 5 will come out and then the balance will shift.

As far as apps as I said above the XB1 has Sling TV.

PS4 had PlayStation Plus free games before gold did and has PlayStation Now to rent and steam PS1 and PS2 titles.

But more USMG members are on XBL some are beginning to show up on both. CoD clan wars on the PS4 side was 1-3 players mostly at times.

Any pointers?

I'll give you the same advice I give everyone when they ask me this question in person:
Both systems have their strengths and flaws so you're going to have a solid gaming machine regardless of which you side with so go where your friends are. All the exclusives in the world will still leave you looking over the fence if all your friends are having a blast playing on the other side.

Unless of course you can get both systems :cool: In which you should then go for the one that has the most appealing exclusives right now for your tastes and pick up the other console as soon as the bills grow back on your money tree
